Hi, Im interested in the Dell 2407WFP-HC or BenQ FP241W to go with an 8800GTX card. I want to be able to plug a PS3 into the monitor for 1080p HD gaming but im unsure on the capablilities and jargon.

I read the BenQ has and HDMI connection for 1080p "over componant" but the new Dell 2407WFP-HC doesn't have this HDMI port. You can however use an "HDMI-DVI Cable" to get 1080p through the DVI port?

Would there be any difference in the visual quality or other effects of going with the Dell + a "HDMI-DVI Cable" over the Benq's straight HDMI port?

I contacted overclockers who replied...

"yes the dvi to hdmi will do the 1080p, there will be no visual diffrence between the dongle or the straight through cable"

bought a dell 2407 hc today must say im impressed much better quality than a TN panel, the only problem is the blacks are a little crushed play tomb raider and visit dark areas to see, other than that tho, there is no sign of ghosting or banding and no matter where im sitting i can see it clearly :D

response time seems good 2 as i aint noticed any artefacts yet, anyone wanting to play games/photo work should take a serious look at this monitor the colours are awesome

dunno how the benq compares tho

thanks
