Hello,

I’ve just started to download 1080p H.264 films and documentaries on my PC, what methods are there for playing these files on a HDTV? I know the XBOX 360 is about to become capable of playing H.264, but from what I read it doesn’t include 5.1 sound?

Are there any other methods? I’ve not bought the HDTV , and I don’t currently have a XBOX 360 but as HD content is starting to become available I thought I’d see what the options are.

I have a new Premium Vista enabled PC upstairs and this is currently networked to an Original XBOX (currently used to stream DIVX) in my living room.

Thanks in advance

Plug your speakers into your PC and use VGA or DVI? (HDMI if available)

That's how I ran my HDTV as a PC monitor.

Honestly

It depends on the bitrate of the stuff you are downloading tbh,

A cheap dual core from amd will probably suffice for downloaded lower bit-rate media but don't expect to be able to play HDDVD/BLU-RAY on it.
