10mbps between laptop and nas

What are you using to determine that it the maximum transfer is 10mbps?
I ask because a common mistake is to see the transfer speed as reported by Windows explorer which is of course in Megabytes per second rather than Megabits per second - i.e. if that is reporting 10Megabytes per second then this is actually 80 megabits per second (which with overheads is the sort of speeds you'd expect on a 100Mbps connection).
