Hello all, I recently installed speedfan to measure temps on my out dated p4 3.2 @ 3.6 single core and have noticed that the aux is readin 112 c everything other than this is stable. I have had some strange things happen when playing BF2 the strangest being the pc restarting itself and more commonly the game just disappears . I reduced everthing to stock but same probs . As i said it is a very basic sys with only one fan on cpu and another on the card ( HIS 1950 pro) and the side of the case is off presumably lost:o) Could the 112c reading be the card ? . I d/l the appropriate mobo specs for speedfan , the readings :- system 42 ...CPU 29...AUX 115 at present...and HDO 25. Would greatly appreciate some input thanks

Speedfan can give some odd readings. I have one counter at -250C or something silly.

What kind of motherboard do you have, is your system overclocked and have you tested for graphics, RAM and chip stability with ATI Tool, mem-test and Orthos respectively.

hey Chris, iam a bonafide noob at all this but i will run tests using the suggested , i did run the ATI tool which supposedly determines overclocking possibilities for card but the screen begun flickering at the onset so i aborted.Speedfan is currently telling me the cpu is at 68 c aux 128.... My motherb is a p5gpl beta bios 0901 ami 2 gig ddr1 and ati 1950 pro 256 mg

Yep i reckon you`re probably right i just had a look see and prod around there and apart from surviving there is no way that kind of temp is pysically happening... Iam beginning to suspect the video card but then why or how could a faulty card reboot the pc ... and does anyone have any advice on how to actually use memtest..thanks

I asked what kind of mobo you had for that very reason. ASUS PC Probe is your friend. It's a tool provided by ASUS themselves free for their motherboard customers that will show you temps, voltages and all things good.

When you load ATI-Tool your screen should not flicker - this is a sure sign something is wrong with your system.

ATi Tool always crashes my system every 2 out of 3 times (roughly) when I use it on my Asrock D-V board. On my Asus P5N-E board it's generally fine.
