Hi.

Hoping someone can help me. Currently have a full time job on a permanent basis but its truly dire.

Have been offered a new job through an employment agency. Thing is it says its a 12 month contract.

NOW i know this may sound incredibly stupid BUTdo i still have the right to hand notice in on one of these agency contract jobbies as im hopefully going to Uni next September.

Or once i start do i have to do the 12 months?

Thanks

Yes. In fact usually the notice periods are shorter with agency jobs, it also means they can sack you pretty much instantly too.

When I was contracting I had to give 1 months notice on a 3 month at a time contract.

That's just because that's what was in your contract.

I started my current contract with no notice period, but as the economic climate got worse I put in six weeks at renewal time. That made me the most expensive contractor to get rid of.

I think in the OP's case the employment agency will give him a very short notice period. Considering he's off to Uni next year I'm guessing he'll be doing an entry level job and thus won't really be in a position to negotiate anything.

Yeah even if i get let go i would just do whatever casual work till i got by.

Never worked through an employment agency before so just wondered.

Thanks for the help guys :)
