Ok my 12 months with O2 are almost up, and that means new phone time!

I had an accident with my old phone last month so had to buy a new one, which I'm perfectly happy with. So the new phone i'll get from O2 will be sold on straight away.

So any ideas on the best phone to get that will realise the best price on Ebay? Ta :)

nokia n80 or the o2 exec but im pretty sure ya gonna have to pay abit upfront for either of these, though if ya on a higher enough contract ya may get it free!

What about the LG KG800 Chocolate? Seem to be going for around £200 on Ebay.

The phone is free for a new contract with O2 on my tariff. So hopefully they'll let me have one for free if I sign up for 12 months again..

Any others to consider?

yeah those lg chocs are popular, unless u talk to o2 retentions and see what they will offer u as they will not want to lose ya so they may offer the n80 for £50 and u can put it on ebay brand new for £300 at least! i have it my self so good phone, i kept it but n70 aval lol hint hint!

Just rang up and they offered the LG for around £100..

But the Samsung E900 for £9.99 I think, maybe it was £29.99. Either way it wasn't much. And these seem to sell for around £250 on Ebay. So seems like a good way to go! :p

i saw a k800i going over £400 on ebay the other day! probly coz they aint available yet tho ;)

I phoned O2 up today about a new upgrade and was quoted the following:

Nokia N80 - £299
Nokia N91 - £349
LG Chocolate - £100
SE W810 - £150

Now I've been an O2 customer for 3-4 years, my tarriff is £35 a month but some months I spend about £50-£85.
I said to the woman on the phone, do you want me to drop my pants and you can screw me that way ;) obviously it didn't go down well!!
I felt quite insulted that they would offer me any of these phones at these prices.

Oh she said to me "you can have the K750i for free"

Is their any way of getting this phones cheaper from O2?

Yes, you spoke to Upgrades, they don't care.

Ask to cancel and you will be put through to "rententions" These are the people who lick your balls and love to make you happy :)

They will offer them phoned for cheap cheap or even free :)

Nice, cheers for the info, I will give them a bell tomorrow. :)

hey, can i ask, which phone are you intending on getting? i REALLY need to buy another phone and now is as good a time as any as my Samsung D600 was stolen and i had no insurance... in a bit of a pickle so would you be willing to see me the decent phone!? :p just a long shot mate but worth asking you incase!

Whatabout the M600i thats just come out on o2 - I should think would be a nice little earner.

ps You can always cancel your contract if they dont give you want you want and port your number over..

Hmm i'd like to hit them up for a K800i.. but in order to have some bargaining power I need to be able to prove that I can sign up elsewhere and get that phone reasonably cheaply.

Any ideas considering my monthly rental is around £20?

uyou always have to speak to retention, upgrades do not give a monkey as stated above

i had a run in with them a few months ago finally managed to get a deal where i paid 50 quid for my phone but then they knocked 5 quid a month off my contract ???

no idea why they were being dicks about it but it worked out as a free phone + profit

was hard work with them though i must admit

not looking forward to round 3 :p

Sorry to quote myself, but i posted this on another thread a few days back:

On a slightly different tip, i just b(r)ought a Samsung p300 from O2 (Online 200 deal but ive got 400 texts instead of 100). Wouldnt normally be that interesting if it wasnt for the price. Online wanted me to pay £80 for it, or £120+ for the Nokia N80. Walked into an O2 shop in Cardiff and the offers were much cheaper. Apparently something to do with Q2 ending and them needing to force sales through.

Anyhoo, not only did i get it for free, they through in a 7" DVD player. The guy in the shop said they had 2/3 days left with the offers on. All it took was a T-Mobile catalogue under my arm

Online retentions may also do the same deals or different deals but good to look at both. The deadline probably ends Sat so be quick.

Just phone 202 from you mobile, press 2 and 2 again at the menu (for retentions). Then ask the rep for you 'Pac' code. They should then say "why is it that you want to leave o2" at which point you can make your complaint about upgrade prices. The rep *may* offer you one of those phones for cheaper *if* they deem your business to cover the expenditure (note: you dont automatically deserve an expensive phone for free - they are not a charity!!). Then may also/otherwise offer you a better deal on your tariff. If they offer you a deal that you like then great, otherwise they will send you the pac code. Don't worry if they don't offer you anything, requesting a pac code doesn't cancel your contract or anything, it is simply a code that you give to other operators when you join them to port your existing phone number to their network.

I just spoke to retentions and they offered me a K800i for £129, also he started going on about I can have the K750i for free, which isn't much different than the K800i.
