1200 Beats Per Minute - Drumming.

What a load of ****. Speed may be impressive but without any other musical ability it counts for nothing. Neil Peart from Rush is a true master of the drums...

This link does not really do Neil justice as he always does one of these solos in concert that will actually last for up to 9 minutes.

*yawn* He's just got a big drum set.

it's very good, for all the people saying "there's no musicality" you are wrong. The song would not have the desired effect if it were not for the ridiculously fast Double bass pedal and snare drum.

Whether you like the song or not, they are obviously aiming for a very outside manic sound and the drumming really gives emphasis to that

you totally have to get in that studio of yours, record something at 1000bpm thats tight(edit: ish) and lasts for at least 3 minutes before you get away with saying that.

I'm completely prepared to eat my words..

i never said it was easy to play, I said that it fits the sound they are looking for.

Personally, I would find it hard to play my drummer's double bass pedal that fast, but heck, it's easy right?

hes playing doubles, flamming fast. really not hard mate at all.

joey isnt playing at 1000bpm, i cant play at 1000bpm.

the first part i agree is fast and is quite hard to pull off, but he gets into this routine of doubling the feet and doesnt get out of it. if anybody hasnt noticed.

1000 beats per minute is not the same as 1000 strokes per minute, which is what you are referring to.

In the real world, no one uses strokes per minute, because the drums are a musical instrument and not a means with which athletes (because that's exactly what they are) can 'compete'

On average, given that a person puts work into their drumming, there's nothing he plays in that video that anyone couldn't play after a few years, and better than him, at that.

Nothing in that video except sloppy hand/foot trade-offs.

what he said.

like it or hate it. just don't say it's easy unless you can prove it.

if daves about who i know or can say must be a good drummer, and knows his stuff will put his contribution in and say that its sloppy and really not a good solo.

my bad on the beats strokes thing.

it can't be easy if it takes years to learn though?

sorry, i'm just being argumentative. :D

Edit: fair dos on the recording thing Neon, but you see my point?

its not the fact it takes years to learn, it takes so long to learn the basics, yes. but once you have the basics its really nothing to complicated. the foot work hes doing half way through is simple.

you can do it sat where you are. tap one foot down and the other straight after like a flam, du-dum!

right then left, or left right depending on how you'd drum, now speed it up. its all hes doing. with hand work over the top.
