1200mm f5.6 wanted. Please send £6.00 [edit: was £11.74]

I notice that a certain New York retailer has a Canon 1200mm f5.6 in their second hand stock. I would quite like it for myself.

Now, if each active member of Overclockers would kindly send me a £6.00, I could nip over and get it.

yeah its custom made, the BBC have one, sultan of brunei, CNN have 2 I think....

I've read quite a few articles on it, they generally use them for massive events where the media can't get close and they NEED the pictures.. I think they have a lot of difficulty with there being that much air between you and the subject, (heat haze, glare, dust) which just degrade image quality..

You'd also need to spend about £10k on a big tripod for it, I assume most people reading this will look on google images and see what I mean lol.

I think there was a certain part of the transformers movie where they bolted this lens onto a film camera for some of the scenes.....
 
That's what the BBC use theirs for too I think, capturing VERY elusive animals in documentaries.
