14 year old arrested for bringing in homemade clock

This Ahmed kid seems bright enough. Has he ever seen a movie from the 80s?

Could he not see how building a clock like that in a briefcase might look a bit dodgy?

You do realise the president is just a human being, not some omnipotent all knowing essence.

You're making him sound like Jesus.... like the dude walks around all day strolling about turning water into wine.

Trying to discuss anything with you is like playing chess with a pigeon, it'll just kick all the pieces over, **** all over the board and strut around like it won anyway.

My point is, he wouldn't get so involved if he knew that the concerns were legitimate and it was a security risk. The fact he's been detailed and given whatever information they have (which is probably quite a lot if the tin-foil hat people are right) and chose to invite the kid to the white house.

If I thought it was a bomb I would have raised the alarm and evacuated the area, not oh this looks like a bomb, I'm just gonna take it off him and call the Police.

This is my drawer at work. Looks a bit like one of those bombs off TV.

ALLAHU AKBAR!

This forum for a start. Count up the number posters, do 99% of those think it's a bomb? No.

huh what? aw come on you posted the stats you provide the source - you run a poll on those who have posted to find out who thought and who didn't think it was a bomb? or did you just guess ;)

truth is it's likely 99% of those posting in here haven't got a clue what a bomb really looks like.

what you think and what you know are 2 different things.

yea in fairness most folk wouldn't think it was a bomb but as I say, thinking and knowing are 2 different things. also depends on the context/situation in which you see the clock the kid made.

here, now, on this forum - course your not going to automatically think its a bomb - in a classroom, you're already probably stressed from the rigours of teaching in the US school system - some kids bag beeps you ask what it is and he shows you that in a case, 50/50 I'd say. some would laugh some would run a mile.

more extreme situation - you're sat on board a plane and the guy beside you opens a case and you see that outside - I guarantee you that you're making peace with whatever deity you believe in :p

Thinking something isn't a bomb when looking at a picture on the internet is one thing. Making that call when it is on the other side of the room is another.

exactly my point. how many of those 99% that longbow is talking about (imaginary I'm guessing) would still say nope no bomb here if, as I posted above, the guy sat next to them on a open a briefcase and they saw that inside?

Vladimir actually appears to have mellowed with age. In that picture, he looks like he'd send his granny to the Gulag just for buttering his toast in a counter-revolutionary manner.

No, I didn't bring up the 99%.

You don't need to run a poll, ~50 people have posted in this thread, more than one has said it doesn't look like a bomb. Do you want a calculator?

I wonder who's country killed the most people while those three were running it?

I have a sneaking suspicion it's the pothead.

At least the Pothead's country signed up to the NPT. Israel didn't. Israel denied they had a nuclear program. Israel, when asked by the UN to allow inspectors in told them that they would never allow inspectors in, ever. Then jailed the man who revealed they had a nuclear program in solitary confinement for decades. And illegally occupied neighbouring territories. Israel tells the Pothead to jump and how high. Engages with the pothead in hacking and introducing viruses into neighbouring states nuclear reactors. Because neighbouring states have said they'd wipe Israel out. After they overthrew the puppet government installed by the potheads government. Israel just won't publicly state it wants to wipe neighbouring states out. It builds "settlements" instead.
