So I've had a 144Hz 1080p monitor for a while, but recently put a scratch in it. It's not that noticeable during gaming as it's near the edge of the screen, but when browsing the internet it's a bit annoying.

I've been thinking about upgrading to the AOC AGON AG241QG.

24", 1440p, up to 165Hz + G-sync technology.

I'm mainly into MOBA's, so low input lag and fast/smooth display is my priority.

Is this monitor a good deal at £390?

I saw some feedback that the coating is a bit of an issue on white backgrounds. But I assume that while gaming it is not an issue?

I'm also not 100% convinced about G-sync. Is it really #worth the extra ~£75 or so? I have a 1070 so imagine it would definitely get a lot of use as probably won't be able to maintain 1440p @ 165fps with newer games.
It is pretty annoying when I get a bit of stutter as soon as gpu drops below max refresh rate on current screens, but doesn't happen all that often @ 1080p/144Hz or 1440p/60Hz.

I Purchased a similar one to the agon (pg279q). Coming from a 1080p without gsync the difference is noticeable especially in fights when fps drops. Theres also a lot more screen space at 1440p.

Just a heads up, I did a very similar upgrade recently and to be honest... I wasn't completely as blown away as I thought I would be.

Games still look good. They still look smooth. But importantly, when you are coming from 144hz then things are smooth already if you know how to put your settings in correctly.

I think its still an improvement, but its not quite as drastic as I was thinking.

I had that monitor and hated it. I ended up with the Dell s2716dg which is a complete and total world away from the aoc. The blurry effect on the aoc screen is awful and it takes ages to set up and it never quite looks right. I had both their tn and ips and they are both way below other monitors I'm afraid.

If I were you I'd order both aoc and Dell and I guarantee you'll keep the Dell one.

I could jump to that, But i already have a non gaming 27" QXD display (Asus PB278Q) any ideas on something 2K but 30" plus and at least 144hz?

I have considered the Acer Predator Z35 35 inch Widescreen Curved Monitor (21:9, VA, LED, 144 Hz, 4 ms, G-Sync v2, 100M:1, Euro/UK, Acer EcoDisplay) - Black/Red

Just a shame it isn't 1ms

you only need 1ms for competitive gaming. there are a couple of ultrawide 3440x1440 that will do 100hz. CF791 for example
or if you have big funds available you can wait for the 4k 144hz monitors that will be available for the end of the year.

it's not just competitive gaming that benefits from 1ms GtG time, any single player game with fast motion will have far less "ghosting" / motion blur.
i used to get really annoying trailing/ghosting with Diablo 3 on a VA panel. it had decent colours/blacks though. but useless for fast-paced games.
