There probably weren't any judges around. Here in Jersey (so probably the same in Guernsey), fishing contests are generally operated on the basis of trust. Basically you go to wherever you wish around the coast of the island, land what you can then report back to central weighing stations with your catch.

indeed. other than pilfering aquariums, i guess you could also cheat by going to a fresh fish stall.
