16 weeks served of 15 month sentence and he's out

He isnt exactly "free to go" though is he? He is tagged and although I dont know any details at all, probably subject to rescrictions.

He isnt taking the space of a more worthwhile prisoner and is probably saving taxpayer's money in the process.

Although I can see where you are coming from, I dont think its as bad as it could be.

This is ridiculous. I have had friends get, and do, more time than him for lesser offences.

Im kinda speechless. It is lucky the guys in the other car didn't die.

bit of a ******* joke tbh. Driving fast etc is fine in my eyes, but when it is blatently dangerous- which, 90mph on the wrong side of the road approaching a blind dip definately is then I reckon a half decent length custodial sentence is the best bet.

It is bad, but im not suprised at all.

The sentence he got to start with was a joke and doesn't give out the message of taking responsibility for your actions that can ruin peoples lives.

I'd prefer to spend tax money keeping people like this in prison for their full sentences and given the punishment they deserve.

The guy he hit broke most major bones in his body, because of this idiot showing off overtaking at 90mph over a blind hill. The fact he is still on crutches 18 months later shows what he had to endure. Not really sending out the right deterrent to people when this happens.

Personally I would prefer it if the sentence was 4 months and a tagging after.

If the time you get was the time you serve it would make a lot more sense, or is that to simple for our country?

We must not go in blindly, we need to come from a different angle

If we go into his history we find out

The judge criticised the DVLA for refusing to reveal that Hamed had been banned before for driving at 110mph.

HEs crashed at 90mph merc.

He also had three other previous convictions for speeding offences, details of which the prosecution had to find from court records.

Hamed, 32, from Dore in Sheffield, was sentenced to 15 months after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing. He was also given a four-year driving ban.

His £325,000 McLaren-Mercedes crashed at 90mph in Sheffield on 2 May 2005.

The judge criticised the DVLA for refusing to reveal that Hamed had been banned before for driving at 110mph.

The Honorary Recorder of Sheffield, Judge Alan Goldsack, told Hamed: "I find it astonishing that the DVLA has not been prepared to co-operate with the prosecution to give them details of your earlier offences - apparently on human rights grounds."

Anxious to impress

The DVLA's decision led to Hamed being sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday without the judge being told he had previously banned for a year for driving a Porsche at 110mph on the M1 in Derbyshire.

The court heard how Hamed had been anxious to impress businessman Asif Ayub, 46, who was a passenger in the McLaren-Mercedes at the time of the crash.

Hamed was showing what his car could do when he crossed a solid white line at a speed of at least 90mph and crashed head-on into a Volkswagen Golf that emerged from a dip in the road.

The court heard Hamed's car then hit a second vehicle, a Ford Mondeo he had been trying to overtake.

The driver of the Mondeo, Michael Wood, described Hamed's overtaking manoeuvre in court as "stupid, suicide, ridiculous".

So its not that he needs to be prisoned, that will do absoloute f all , he needs to be banned from driving
