Hi there !

I have a HIS ICEQ3 X1900 XT, with the latest ATI Cats 6.7, with a Dell 2405. I use 1920x1200 native, but for some games I find dropping down to 1680x1050 (16:10 ratio) helps. XP doesnt have the resolution available to select and this in turn means games such as half life 2 etc. also do not have 1680x1050 as a selectable option, instead jumping from 1920x1200 to 1440x900.

Anyone else with a similar setup have the same problem ? My old AGP X800 XL card allowed for this resolution.

I understand it was a known problem with the 6.6 cats, but ATI reckon it has been fixed in 6.7 (this is a new built conroe rig, 6.7 is the first drivers installed, so it cannot be an old driver / drivercleaner problem)

yep, i have tried the dell monitor drivers specific to the 2405 and the standard plug and play monitor driver.

Im hoping it might just be a driver issue, might try the omegadrivers later just to see for certain.

it's a bummer though, as 1680x1050 gives a good trade off when playing more gpu intensive games like FEAR/COD2 etc.

odd as i have 2 x 20" widescreen tfts and thats their native,

i get the option from the word go lol.

you can force resolutions by

right click desktop, left click properties. click the settings tab.

Click advanced and then monitor and untick hide non supported resolutions.

This should allow you to select the full spectrum from 640x480 right up the top res your monitor will support. In theory giving you the option for 1680x1050

hope thats of help

tried this mate, but the option is still not available, every friggin' res is available except 1680 lol.

Im sure it seems a cat software issue. I will post here if I solve it.

si.

i have tried 6.6 but still no joy lol.

i have my fingers crossed for 6.8 :)

FEAR is a good example, it's a bit slow for my liking at 1920x1200 (avg of about 45 fps), so setting this to 1680 would be fine, but at the moment im having to use 1280x800..... god life's tough :)
