Hi there,

I recall many moons ago, that there were issues with running more than 2 sticks of RAM with overclocked Sandy setups.

Now 2x8GB kits are ample, can anyone make any suggestions?

Corsair LP stuff? Am I right in thinking I may as well stick to 1600mhz on this kind of setup? (to maintain the overclock)

Team Group Vulcan likely to work?

It's running on an Asus P67 Pro B3 rev, and has been stable at 4.5Ghz for over 5 years now. (idle temps 32C - max around 50C) and I intend to throw a 1070 GTX in.

Cheers

So do you have 2x4gb now or 2x8gb? I ran 4x4gb @ 1866Mhz for ages with no problems. Just bumped up the voltage for the memory controller.

People always told me there would issues running 4x4GB but I had no problems. I ran a 4.5Ghz 2550K/3570K/2600K on a sabertooth z77 motherboard. I used 2 sets of Corsair 1600Mhz CL9 1.35V ram, bought years apart (such that DDR3L became a thing which the latter set was) just set XMP in the bios and had 0 issues.

When trying to get some higher overclocks I removed a set and found no improvements to stability.

I have been running 4 x 4GB Corsair XMS 3 1600 for years on an overclocked 2600k at 4.6Ghz, and not had any issues, but this is on a gigabyte board.

I run 4x8gb @ 1866. As others have said, the memory controller needs a kick of voltage to be properly stable, but it handles it.

Doing this does pump up the thermals though, to the point where I had to choose between lowering the OC on the processor, or speeding up the fans.
