i have a 30" dell and plan to swap out my 7800GT for one of these ATi cards. they apparently have 2xduallink DVI ports so can handle 2 of these monitors.

what i would like though is to game on 2 of these together (span game across both screens). i figure i may need 2 cards to do this properly with newer games but things like CS:S can play full screen absolutely fine with my current card and am hoping this new ATI card can handle the res requirement of 2x30" dells :)

anyone have any thoughts?

2x30" wow. If you've got the money to spend on 2x30" screens im sure you'll have the money for Crossfire X1950XT-X's.

I would say Crossfire some X1950XT-X's that will be gaming bliss that way.

A X1950 Crossfire master card and a X1950XT-X that should be quite enough make sure if you do go this route that you have a crossfire mobo.

60" total screen size?!

imo i would buy a projector instead, you can get the same size and run it off the one 7800GT

why noy just get two 32inch hd lcd tv's that whay it only costs you £1600 and you can run them both from 1 card

I agree with the projector comment, get a quality projector and it would be an awesome gaming experience if u want a big screen!

Because that sort of LCD is nothing compared to a 30" Dell when it comes to picture quality.

But I'd agree with the projector comment: either that or buy three 2407s and one of those lil' boxes of tricks from Matrox.

i already have a projector lads - the sony hs50 projected on a 106" screen. thing is, the res is only 1280x720. i already have a dell so dont want to buy a tv since it would be lousy as a monitor (icons too big).

i just wanted to check that the ATi cards can do this since the last article i found on this (2004 tho) from toms hardware showed ATi couldnt use 2 monitors for 1 game

They can. I used to use 2 monitors on my old X800XT PE, i can still do it with my X1900XT-X now. As yuo said though 2004 so that a 9800.

How on earth can you run games across 2 monitors at the same time ? I have 2x19" monitors with an x1900XT and you can only run d3d in 1 monitor at a time

You have to go into CCC and right click on the second monitor and select Horizontally span across this monitor! Then when you get in games there should be a 2560x1024 resolution present!

Some graphics cards have 2 outs. :)

well yeah, hence why I have 2x19 monitors ;) .............but you carnt run a game over the 2 monitors unless its specifically written for it *as far as im aware* like I carnt run HL2 in 'widescreen' across my 2 19" monitors............can i ?

NOoooooooooo Warhammer doesnt support the 20somet by 1024 res, only 20somet by 1586, which doesnt display properly :( , only game this res would b useful on.........is there a way to force the res ?

In many cases though games dont support widescreen, but widescreen is becoming more popular so more games are comign with widescreen support! Half life 2 and Counter strike:Source look ace! But there unplayable with the divide.

Ive played Civ 4 across my 2 17"'s which is very nice!

Also there is many fixes to work around this, google Warhammer widescreen resolution fix or something, widescreen gaming website has fxes also!

Slight problem, games don't support 32:10 widescreen so you can't play a game across 2 monitors without it looking very stretched and distorted, and in fps games the crosshair would be in between the 2 screens.

ok if you want to play games over 2 monitors........dont. you need 3 monitors as the x-hair for games would like in the middle of the 2 monitors and would make the game unplayable. also spanning the desktop isnt nice when in the windows gui. 3 x 19" monitors is the way to go for widescreen gaming with one of those matrox triple head things.

you can also run games in a window stretched over the 3 monitors but that lowers the framerate.

save your money, or get 3 x 19" screen and a matrox triple head, costs about £600 for that lot.

That would be even more streched.
