Is my monitor going to be holding me back much? it looks like max is 1680 by 1050.
Just ordered this rig as an upgrade for bf3.
personally, I'd say 1680x1050 is your friend, look at it this way, I have my rig in my sig - which is bar perhaps the gfx card,a long way behind yours yet I can run BF3@Ultra as this rez is hardly taxing my GFX card that much yet I still have a nice big screen and it looks jaw droppingly good - as I say, everything on ultra.
I'd love a 30" 2560x1600 monitor, don't get me wrong, but can't justify the outlay required for the hardware to run something like BF3 @ Ultra Quality at that resolution - its frankly absurd for somebody who games at weekends only as I do due to work - you sir may feel different? although, with the greatest of respect, given your systems price, I'd imagine not.
2560x1600 is bliss, make no mistake about that, but I'm more than blissfully happy with BF3 at 1680x1050 and I'm pretty sure you will be - with that rig - too.
Absolutely, get something with surround sound & deep bass, crouching in a bush with a 'chopper overhead @ silly loud volume has to be experienced in this game!!!

The 560 Ti does 3D Vision perfectly, at 720p anyway.

To the OP - it sounds simply to me that your problem is that you built a £1000 PC to then play hack-arsed console ports on standard definition mini resolutions. Perhaps try playing a PC game on a 24" widescreen monitor with a modest (and affordable) gaming 5.1 speaker set-up. That'll offer something more of the 'PC experience' that I'm sure you're looking for. I'm rather bemused that you shelled out 4x the console-price to play games ported directly from a console, on a monitor/resolution smaller than any living-room console television.

Suggest op upgrades from a pocket calculator display to a monitor of at least 1920x1080.

Is it just me, or do the people that absolutely hate consoles have difficulty spelling?
I don't think some of you get it. There are a lot of excellent exclusive games for consoles that you simply cannot get on a PC. This is why people buy them, they also tend to be considerably cheaper.
The graphical differences aren't as massive as some people are making out either, sure, PC games nearly always look superior, but the PS3 and 360 graphics aren't exactly 'rubbish'.

Agreed nothing less then 1920x1080, I mean 1680x1050 is OK it was what I used before getting my benq and games looked great. But if you are going to get a new screen you might as well spend a few extra pound coins and got for 1920x1080 min.

I don't agree, gow3 looked shocking, console games are now starting to show the age of the hardware. I did not even finish gow3 on my 360 as it looked really really bad. I am not a graphics whore but I just was not impressed with it at all. The only thing a 360 is good for right now is Red Dead Redemption.

£1k PC to play at that res..I'm not surprised at your choice.
If you put 360 side by side with a good 1920x PC, or even 25xx, the difference is staggering.

I couldnt tell the difference between 1920x1080 and 1680x1050, in fact I was that disapointed with the monitor I took it back, in 1680x1050 I can run more eye candy and there was no noticable difference in screen size between the two which is my only gripe with my 22" so I've decided to wait for a well priced 27" 1920x1080 monitor

wow, just wow. forgot how much of a bunch of total knuckle heads were in the PC gaming section, this just served as a sombre reminder of that.
what the hell is wrong with you people, like seriously? the posts here just tell me that you people just shouldn't game, sorry but that is the harsh truth of it, you are so hard to please that you can no longer enjoy the experience of gaming as a whole, which is very very sad.
also consoles aren't for children or simpletons, personally own an Xbox 360 and a PS3 and wouldn't consider myself a simpleton and certainly not a child. so for the love of god think before you say something.
the ironic thing is so many on this certain part of the forum are doing stuff like bashing whatever game because it is on a console, therefore it is boring, linear and terrible yet jerking off to Portal or Portal II, where the whole and singular concept of the game is a very very simple 'portal gun', seriously?
never been to somewhere with such hatred toward something, this is what a Nazi party meeting must have been like in the second world war, no sense and pure blind hatred.

Um, you're aware the majority client base of OcUK will be dedicated PC users who take their PC gaming a little more seriously than most? Would you be saying the same over on the PistonHeads forums when discussing their dedication to their cars?wow, just wow. stuff.
Console gaming is what it is. It brought gaming to the masses, but also stole a lot of premium developers from the PC and stunted the growth of the gaming market (crappy ports don't count). You're going to get some flames no matter who you talk to here. Best not take it personally.
I game on a mid-range PC and PS3 myself, and don't spend time scrutinizing my pixels. But even I can see the OP got it wrong spending all that dosh to game at a low resolution...

Your 360 has a motherboard... A CPU... Graphics card... DVD drive... Hard drive... It's A PC! Albeit a 6 year old, slightly noisy one.
So it's really very simple. If you don't have much money, can't be arsed modding and tweaking and rather just slap in a disc without any hassle... Play consoles.
If you like being on the edge of graphics, prefer having a mouse and keyboard as input devices (the way FPS games SHOULD be played) and don't mind getting your hands dirty when something goes wrong, go PC.
