Surely you have a 1080p TV you could hook it up to?

I have been playing quite a few PC games sat on my arse on my couch recently. Most have been with a 360 pad but I have got quite proficient in using mouse and keyboard while sat there too.

Guys what if my TV is 720P and is connected through HDMI what is the best resolution for gaming?? sorry for hijacking the thread lol.

I have both a 360 and the rig in sig, i can honestly say pc's blow consoles out of the water nowadays without breaking a sweat but you need a full HD monitor to be able to see your pc working in all its glory, 1920 x 1080 is what you should go for, after that you will change your tune, guaranteed !!! ^^

What a pointless thread, if he genuinely believes everything except RTS is dead on PC he may as well just throw is new super computer in the bin, he doesn't deserve it.

well i didnt post the full spec.

other parts include two 1tb drives
tripple summert intel cpu cooler
750watt corsair power supply
some HAF 12 case
blah de blah.

so it would seem that the higher resolution will save the day.
i shall try that some time in the near future then. :)

you should be able to get a decent 1920x1080 monitor for 150-200 if not less.

you could use it on your xbox if you give up on pcs :P

what you should do is get C.A.R.S community assisted race sim.

if you want to see what racing graphics should be on the pc and that game is still alpha!

I play at 720p with the PC. Benefits include loads of AA, faster load times, cheaper games, better draw distance, higher res textures, mods, usually a bunch of graphics options unavailable on the consoles etc etc. The 360 and PS3 rarely render stuff internally at 720p anyway.

The PC for playing 720p wasn't far off a grand.

Agreed. Since moving from 1280x1024 up to 2560x1440 (27" of Hazro beauty) I've been in awe at what games can look like. Certainly a worthwhile investment having a decent screen to play on. :)

W.R.T. Crysis in particular, look at adjusting configuration manually to deal with the draw distance business. It's demanding but computers these days can actually handle it. On release the limitation in draw distance, among other settings, was somewhat necessary.
