1Password Licenses and my rage

I understand the development costs, my beef is with the lack of discount for Mac OS license holders.

Paying full price when I already have a license seems a bit unfair.

I agree with you entirely, and I'm a software developer myself. Is it worth getting in touch with them and explaining your point of view? I would do so myself, except that I already have 1Password for Windows (which I use at work and is invaluable).

Looking at it another way, I do think it's good to try to support decent software houses, and 1Password (for Mac at least) really is quite a well-made piece of software. I don't mind paying sometimes a little over the odds to software companies I feel are worth supporting, such as Panic, Omni Group etc. :)

I appreciate that this is a somewhat magnanimous position, though - 'it's fine if you have the money' in other words :p

I've emailed them about it, so will post an update.

I tacked it on the end of my support request for 1Password Anywhere as that's down for me :(

You need to find the commercial product manager name - then email them directly :D

I've an engineer background, now product management. I still do development on OSX (I have an app I'm writing now I'd like to sell through the store). As a user it's annoying but they'd probably have to review the business case for the next release. The CPM would be the person with the P&L for that product unless they have a pricing bod... Portfolio pricing bods (spit!) are worse than accountants and HR to product managers.

It is annoying as I've paid twice for the same app on my iPhone and iPad and incidentally have iOS, Mac and Windows versions of 1Password because I want all my passwords, banking details and software licenses to play nice on whichever platform I'm using.
You wouldn't expect your Microsoft Office for Windows license to work on a copy of Office for Mac and you dont get a discount for being a loyal Windows user so whats the difference.
Just my take on it.

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us, I'm sorry to hear you're having some trouble with 1PasswordAnywhere and the licensing for 1Password for Windows.

So, I always like to start with the really good news, while not advertised on our site we're very happy to offer all our existing 1Password customers a 25% discount on 1Password for Windows when you use the following link to our online store:

* *https://agilewebsolutions.com/store?d=ExtraSpecial
* *
We do have volume licensing available through our dedicated business store at https://agilewebsolutions.com/store/business where you can get a price on a multi-seat license if you need it.

Now onto 1PasswordAnywhere, the error you're seeing looks like something we've seen a few times, usually this should be solved by rebuilding the data file on the Mac by going to Help > Troubleshooting > Rebuild Data File. Once the rebuild is complete, let Dropbox fully sync on both the Mac and PC and then try 1PasswordAnywhere again.

I hope that helps. Please let me know.

Thanks!

I suppose it's better than no discount :)

Good for them - that's actually not too bad. It's a shame they don't offer the OS + Windows bundle price to existing customers, but I suppose one can't be too greedy.

Thanks for updating us EVH :)

Shame they didn't take the Valve route and offer a free cross-platform for Windows/OS X.

I'd probably use the DropBox login if I was on a Windows computer in the short term.
