1ST house, what do i need to buy..

Well something I don't think has been mentioned so far, get a pair of smoke detectors, one for outside the bedrooms, one for outside the kitchen, if you have gas for cooking or especially for heating you should also invest in a carbon monoxide detector.

Simple home safety features, if it is a new build these might be built in, if so, test them.

Just get the Fire Service to install them.

you'll need more than you think, we were lucky enough to get gifts for the engagement and the wedding so our first house was quite well stocked before we'd even got it lol.

accept anything thats free if you need one, dont be too proud to take 2nd hand gear. Even if it only lasts 6 months its given you time to save up to buy a new one or blag another one from someone.

As and when you can afford new stuff like kitchen appliances dont buy cheap tat it'll never last and they are usually terribly inefficient.

Security if needed. window locks, door bolts, Alarm if not installed. (Never did sleep until I installed one. Have downstairs activated at night)

Binoculars for spying on neighbours & a tumbler to listen thru walls.

Don't buy a brand new sofa, major waste of money. 2nd hand sofas are the way to go. .

Just make sure you know where the sofa came from if your going to buy second hand.

I have a phobia about sofa's now after sleeping on one in Ibiza, at the end of my week I found a picture album of the guy who owned the apartment (around 45ish) with loads of pictures of him having sex with big and weird looking spanish women using toys.

I spent all week on that sofa, face down after nights of clubbing :(

Keep it clean

LMAO. It almost reads like you only spent all week face down on it after finding out about what it had been used for. :D:D:D:D:D:D

Not read the thread but i found when me and my missus moved in to our first place on a tightish budget we went to asda and bought loads of cheap stuff like asdas own cutlery, sugar/coffee/tea pots etc. You can get a lot of things for dead cheap there.

Slowly over the past 3 years we've just replaced the asda own crap that kept us going quite well in the beginning with better stuff (the cutlery for example is good for quite a while but does eventually go a bit funny)

lol nope, just coming in at 7am after a hard nights clubbing and face planting the minging sofa :p

The view made up for it though

To the OP, if your going to buy a sofa, make sure its given to you from family that you trust, and make sure no one has had fat sex on it

That is all :)
