Looking for a 1TB internal drive for media backup. I have seen the following

Seagate Expansions 1TB External Desktop £60

LaCie Hard Disk design by Neil Poulton 1TB £70

Or should i look for a Samsung F1 or WD Black?

By the description isn't the Seagate and LaCie external disks, i.e. USB or e-sata (or both)?

If it's for internal within your PC what about a Samsung F2 or WD Green? I've both of these and whilst not the fastest drives, they are reasonable and also low power, cool and quiet. If I had to choose between them I'd go with the F2.

My thinking was that i could just take the drive out the enclosure and put it inside my machine (then use another drive in the enclosure if needed)

Would be looking at internal being around £50 (as external are £60) Anyone know what drives the seagates have? I had a maxtor 500gb external and i ripped it open and found a 500gb western digital green

I would buy an internal disk, a Samsung F2 (might as well get 1.5TB if you think you'll fill it as they're so cheap). Not all enclosures can be opened cleanly and more and more now have a USB controller built into the drive and no SATA port.
