2,000 migrants tried to enter channel tunnel last night!

I don't really know what to make of this situation. I don't like the idea of a lot of immigrants trying to get into the UK illegally. I also worry and wonder why these people are trying to escape their countries and make their way to the UK. France's stance on immigration is pretty tough generally, as is the rest of Europe I think, but I don't think the UK is that easy to get into, hence why they are doing it illegally.

I can understand people's reticence to get a lot of illegal immigrants, dare I say it I'm not keen on it either. That said, if the immigrants have skills, and are seeking asylum and have a legitimate request it is hard to deny them if they are willing to integrate and provide value to society. That said, how do we prove their claims are true? Do we want extra people in the UK? Lots of questions undoubtedly are being asked.

I do not know what the answer is, but shooting, or hoping for the deaths of these people is not really an acceptable solution or really a human or moral behaviour to give to another fellow human. In fact it's a pretty stupid inflammatory and ignorant and rather pathetic statement to say - but I know a lot of it is just typical keyboard warrior reactions.

Somehow we do need to address the issue of having this influx of illegal immigrants - somehow prevent them from getting into a situation where they are causing issues as they currently are, or getting to the root cause as to why they are so keen to leave their countries.

Legitimate emigration / immigration is something that shouldn't be discouraged (within reason of course - i.e. positive contribution to society).

There is a lot of illegal immigration across Europe, France notably generally has quite a hard stance on it, perhaps why they circumvent France and try and go to other countries including the UK?

I think the typical sensationalist reaction is daft and unnecessary - but there is of course a real situation and issue that needs to be understood and resolved. I don't know what the answer is - but it is our duty to treat others humanely and with respect.
 
How many have sympathies with IS or are actually members of the Caliphate trying to sneak in for nefarious purposes? Surely that could be classed as an invasion.
 
Shoot them, either they die from BOMBS back home and fight for something worthwhile.
Or they get shot having wasted Thousands of dollars getting here and a crap journey.

Enough is enough really. We already have foodbanks, not enough homes and our own homelessness.

I personally find a lot of the comments here unfair and pretty childish, but at the same time, I also take a pragmatic view that people are also playing devil's advocate, and or are trying to get a rise out of people to further the debate, whether they are right or wrong.

This is what this place is about, discussion. IT doesn't have to be all sweetness and light - sometimes it can be uncomfortable, but unless there is something absolutely racist, or absolutely unacceptable then it will be looked into.

I think you need re-calibrate where your line is drawn because presently you run a forum where saying "I think we should shoot these people" is fine but the word for urine that starts with the letter p gets starred out.

But how would you know they where soldiers if in civilian clothing claiming asylum?
How do we know these illegal immigrants are not from IS or some other
terrorist organization?

I don't have a problem at all with skilled labour and genuine asylum seekers.
But dont come bouncing in my backyard and expect me to be friendly.
The is a door at the front and if you knock and are polite then you are welcome.

See the analogy am getting at, enter through the appropriate procedures and
they more than welcome. ;)

When a mod contradicts themselves in the same sentence it says a lot, in recent months/weeks it's gone beyond a joke on here.

'Kill them all' is at no point a discussion at all, least of all intelligent.

Its the same people making the threads, posting in them, and arguing with other people that aren't as right wing as them every single time.

Wondering if OCUK has a secret Britun Ferst recruiting arm or something now

So what would you have us do? Ban/suspend/remove posts/people for posting Daily Mail-esque statements?

If you think these people are being serious, rip them to pieces with a decent debate/argument. If you think these people are being clowns like most of us think they are, block them.

It is your duty, and that of others that disagree, to condemn such statements and make it clear that you think their opinions are millimetres above that of what pond-life may think rather than just complain and ask for censorship. The more people see how ignorant posts exist, the more people will debate against it and convince people that such statements/behaviours are unacceptable.

Let us be sensible for a second and realise that 99% of the statements are keyboard warrior blanket statements with very little actual belief behind it.

What would be a good idea is to swap 2,000 hard working illegal immigrants who genuinely would kill to live and work in UK with 2,000 British scrounging dole dossers who have not worked for generations and have no intention of working in their lives.

Hell, I would swap 2,000,000 of them - Give people jobs if they want to work - Anything, cleaning the streets, scrubbing graffiti, gardening anything.

Don't be ridiculous and just grow up, for a tiny second, or stop being so melodramatic.

This is not a BF recruiting arm - I find that slightly offensive actually.

I'm not going to defend bigoted statements or pure hateful racism, but blowing things out of proportion is a little ridiculous.

I completely disagree with the "shoot them all" statement, but it is down to people to have a discussion/debate about it. If you really want us to start censoring everything that is sailing close to the wind in terms of offending anyone, then we may as well close down GD and half the life forums.

PEople disagree. People have strong opinions. People like to post inflammatory stuff. IF you feel strongly about it, debate it, tell them they are wrong, show your moral superiority.

People have, and always will make blanket statements, ridiculous comments just to get a rise out of people. Even if these people truly believe in genocide, well we have the evidence here and we can the details to the authorities should they see a hate crime taking place.

Alternatively, we can if the desire is strong enough, tighten our grip on what is and isn't allowed. IF you really want a more "military state" sort of discussion forum, I can request that my moderation team do it. I doubt this hardcore moderation will be popular.

That said, I have taken yours and benneh's posts on board and will discuss with my fellow admins and my moderators.

However, this is going just like all other threads of this nature, people taking it too far, and actually do start to be offensive - as such it will likely be closed.
 
In my experience if I make a good argument to back up what I am saying and prove people wrong in an emphatic fashion they tend to not post in that thread again.

They usually pop in the similar threads with the same argument, but can't win them all eh!

For example, Sega Man whateverhisfacistnameis has stopped posting here once it was pointed out to him he plays games with people and said people are run by Romanians. Kind of forgets that one doesn't he. Point it out to him and he magically disappears.

If you don't like a post RTM it. I've done it a few times not for these reasons but for others and most of the mods seem good - some imo suck but that is my opinion and I bet other people find them really good. If it is that bad then challenge if it is really bad then leave. This forum is nothing like it used to be - those days the complicity came from the team not the denouncement - consider that.
