It's not true that Poland does not take refugees. It does. Not as many as the UK per head of population but Poland is a poor country. Compared to more comparable countries such as France or Germany, the UK receives extremely few refugees. We should do more to accept our burden.

As for migration, while there is some inward migration to Poland, the net migration figures have been negative for some time although the balance is shifting towards being more neutral in more recent figures.

not really though is it theres no prohibited travel from most of these countries. they could have come here legally much cheaper than they way they have got here illegally.

the issue is we cant just accept everyone who isn't happy with their own country.

if they are in fear for their lives why are they not claiming asylum in France Mr Jack?

could it possibly be that they are not asylum seekers but simply economic migrants that do not meet our criteria for economic migrants.

You're completely ignoring the context to my post which was atpbx's idea we should reject all asylum applications from people who got here illegally - a practice which led to Jews we rejected getting gassed in WWII.

Why do you presume that just because people are refugees they're totally uninterested in where they end up? They were interviewing people in Calais on the radio this morning, and the one's they were speaking to spoke near fluent English. Can you think of no reason they might prefer coming to the UK to staying in France?

The idea that simply because people are interested in their economic future and the kind of place they end up they can't also be fleeing terrible conditions in their own country is far too simplistic.

People don't have a right to come here though. They have no legal means to come here because they are not meant to come here.

This situation is not at all comparable to the Jews in WW2. There is no continent-wide genocide against Pakistanis, Afghanistanis, Somalians or Nigerians. They are economic migrants, and we don't need them here.

I advocate shoot on sight policy for illegal immigrants, that will soon resolve the Calais crisis.

Who they trying to fool? we have open borders with the whole of europe. We can't rely on france to stop migrants. The tunnel operators need to be held responsible for it and should pay for private security. They can't have people cutting their fences and running on to the tracks and down service tunnels, jumping in to the backs of lorries importing goods. It is no surprise that africans are coming to the uk for all the socialist benefits. Free house, free healthcare, free education, free money, its like a dream come true. They even set you up with work if they are feeling ambitious and you don't even need to speak english.

No we don't, we have a closed border but free movement for EU citizens, of which these people are not.

If we had an open border they'd simply stroll over it - Germany and France have an open border, for example.

They are taking such extreme measures because we have a closed border and they need to go to extreme lengths to get through it.

If they are asylum seekers, they are to take asylum in the first safe country they reach, not the one that most appeals to them. There is no logical reason for someone facing persecution in Africa or Asia to come all the way to the UK.

During WW2, the Jews came to Britain (amongst other destinations) because we were the first safe destination.

How do you determine on sight whether someone is an illegal immigrant or not?

Legal immigrants don't tend to try storm the channel tunnel or climb into the back of trucks :confused:

He hasn't gone against the MPs. There was no vote about whether British personnel embedded with a foreign military could participate in this action. The vote was whether British forces should participate in action against the Assad regime. This has not occurred.

Personally, I've given up on the whole situation, the UKs future is inevitable now. We couldn't stop them coming over if we tried and more than that, I doubt we would really try all that hard anyway. For me, it is just yet another nail in the coffin for the country that I used to love and be proud to be from.

Thankfully, and somewhat ironically I suppose, I am leaving these once-great now feeble shores and emigrating myself (through the proper channels) to a country which will become my new home and that I hope my future generations of bloodline will be as proud to call home as I once was to call the UK.

We could stop them, it would take very little effort to stop them. Its just our media doesn't care about our national interests, they just want to sell papers and get clicks. So when we crack down on illegals, they'll trumpet it as the second coming of the Nazi party.

The media is the greatest threat to Western politics.

It's going to get to a point where someone says enough is enough.

Deploying the army doesn't necessarily mean they're there to shoot them. It certainly gives a much heavier presence of security, and will also help speed up the process of passengers/freight travelling through to the UK. Deploy the army there for 6 months and eventually the immigrants will get bored of repetitive failed attempts at crossing the borders.
