2,000 migrants tried to enter channel tunnel last night!

General consensus appears to be:

1. What's mine is mine.
2. I don't care what your situation is, I'm alright Jack.
3. If you disagree with me, I should have the right to kill you, indiscriminately, and without consequence.
4. If I ever find myself in a similar situation then I would like all three of the points above to be withdrawn immediately because in that circumstance it is completely against my human rights.

Excuse me, I desperately need a shower. Just to clarify, the watery type, not the type that a subsection of this forum seem to think illegal immigrants should be subjected to.

Would sir like some cheese to go with that whine?

They had help getting across the med. If they were capable of getting across the channel, they wouldn't be coming down the tunnel.

Yes ... and if we make the tunnel impassable that same help will be available across the channel. Smuggling has been going on for centuries.

The lorry + tunnel run is the cheapest option to get across, make it not the cheapest and the next cheapest will become the route of choice. Never underestimate the entrepreneurial spirit of the criminal.

I agree the tunnel security needs strengthening. Just don't expect it to be a magic wand that makes the problem go away.

The amount of people wishing death on these immigrants is insane.

Have a word with yourselves, these are human beings.

Correct.

But let's not pretend these are human beings who are going to want to integrate into our culture, respect our integrity, and be active and valued members of society. These are desperate human beings and desperate human beings do desperate things. I would wager you wouldn't open your house to them and that is where people are coming from.

220,000 migrants reached Italy and Greece last year. We have a very small portion attempting to enter this country, many people are more concerned about a lion rather than the human tragedy on our doorsteps.

Ridiculous

To be fair, there are seven billion humans, with a population that has more than doubled in the last 30 years. On the other hand there are 30,000 lions left, their population having dropped an order of magnitude* in the last 30 years....

*~270,000 to 30,000, for comparison the population of humans in Africa has quadrupled in the last 50 years.

We need to spend more time looking after the species that need to be protected(from us) and less time breeding like rabbits, causing these massive population reductions in the first place.

Libya was broken by civil war before we joined in, granted our involvement did change the outcome but it would still have been ruined.

Syria we didn't get involved in (this was big news at the time).

Not really, it was a fairly small uprising of a tribe from one region that was put down fairly efficiently until we entered and blew up most of the governments weapons.

Type in google "Population of UK" and see how much it's increased over the last 8 years, over 5 million people in growth, compared to 1960 to 2005 it was only 7.5 million people in growth.

If 5 million people in 8 years, god only knows what it will be like in the next 10 years.

HUGE problem, this country is truly and utterly ******

Time to win the lottery I think and gtfo, if only!

What does that have to do with illegal immigrants?

We'll end up in some kind of reverse apartheid where we have massive heavily guarded borders where no one is allowed in apart from the lucky few who happened to be born here who just walk around grumbling about 'dem immigrants' and watching X Factor and Shark Week and never go on holiday abroad anymore because we are too frightened of the Muslims.

Frightening

I wonder what our governments "big Picture" is ?
They can stop this if they really wanted practically overnight.

So

What's the ulterior motive ?

Possibly Totally overload the NHS so it does collapse and then hold their hands up saying "Hey it's not our fault, but we have a nice TTIP agreement we can implement "

There's a reason all this crap is being allowed to continue and it's no conspiracy !

^^ This.

It's the same with Australia. People scream about 15,000 asylum seekers as if it's the end of the world when it's merely a drop in the bucket.

Disgusting.

So many people openly saying "shoot 'em, kill 'em all" etc is very worrying.

Would you like to be the one who pulls the trigger, repeatedly, murdering all those human beings.

I wouldn't.

If you have a weak government you can expect a weak immigration policy. Cameron's feeble 'open door/red carpet' approach

If we have an 'open door' approach why are people paying thousands of euros they don't have and risking death to sneak through the tunnel when a single ticket on Eurostar is 50 quid?

These people are no more able to enter the UK as they are Australia, which is why like migrants to Australia they risk life and limb to sneak in illegally.

We do not have an open door approach to non EU migrants. Unless you are marrying a British person who earns over £18k, or you have a very specific family circumstance, the door is shut as tightly as it is Australia. Which is why these people are entering illegally - you know, as illegal immigrants. It's actually easier to get into Australia - as they have a skills based points system and we do not.

Yup, it is easy to sit in a high chair and be judge and jury from a distance. It's similar to being a keyboard warrior on a computer forum, or killing people in a game like GTA V.

I find it interesting that people have such a disregard for human life that their go to answer when faced with a difficult humanatarian situation is to put people in the ground.

I wonder how these same people feel about the Holocaust, or any other number of genocides over the last 75 years?

I would guess that they add to the population crisis.

They aren't counted as part of the population statistics (or at least not accurately). They weren't counted back in 1960 when things were apparently so much better.

The increase over the last ten years or so is the result of perfectly legal immigration, and therefore the numbers of illegal immigrants have had no real impact on our population 'crisis'.
