Hey guys,

real quick question

I have a 2.5" HDD Caddy 'Akasa Integral P2NES'
Now my friend's imac has died and i need to retrieve data off the hdd.
iMacs have 3.5" hdd's.

This caddy has fixed sata and power connections.

Are the sata and power on the 2.5" the same length and distance apart?
If they are the same i should be able to push a 3.5" in there? Right?

I hope this is the case!

IIRC the connections are the same type/distance apart on most 3.5 and 2.5" SATA drives - however I'm not sure you'll be able to put a 3.5" drive into a 2.5" caddy ;)

You may be able make the connection if you can get just the interface out of the caddy but don't force anything or you might break it.
Remember that 3.5" drives usually use more power than 2.5" ones, so if the caddy doesn't have it's own PSU (a lot of 2.5" ones get power via the USB port), and even if it does have it's own PSU it might not be up to the job.
