2 cards and 4 monitors

Stupid question...but.... If I put 2 graphics cards into a PC I can then run 4 monitors? Is there anything I have to be carefull about?

It's possible, I do it with 2 cards and 3 monitors though I could plug in a 4th.

The only thing I had fun with was installing drivers and I am using 9 series and 7 series geforce cards and the latest drivers for my 9800 didn't support the 7600; so I had to install one set for one card and then the other after.

I should hope not. Although maybe one day we'll have GPU's powerful enough to run 9 monitors, for a 3*3 FPS display. That'd be crazy. And expensive

You can game on 9 monitors. Some flight sims do that.

As for what you want to do, just make sure that both cards are the same manufacturer (ati or nvidia) If they are of a similar age you will be able to use the same drivers as well (some older cards aren't supported by the latest drivers)

Google a program called Ultramon, its great for managing multiple monitors.

Unfortunately or fortunately it is not for gaming...

It's going to be used for positioning and 3D imaging of the seabed on a new survey vessel we are building for ourselves.
