I went for another walk round Liverpool, with the intention of photographing the insides of both cathedrals.

I got to the Anglican cathedral just before 9 so spent a bit of time in the graveyard/garden first of all

I've been trying to avoid making the mistake with my processing in the last thread, so gone for a natural approach which I hope has worked

I have never been in here before, but the pictures just do no justice to how big it really is. I love the lighting as well, this photo and the next have pretty much no processing done at all.

I did have a little go in photo shop with this to recover the blown out windows

After this it was up to the top of the tower to take some photos from there, but on the way up I was surprised by the contrast from the vibrant open spaces below, to the dark small passage ways

It was a fairly overcast day unfortunately, and a few moments after I walked on to the roof it started to rain. I got a few shots, but I don't think theres much else I could have done with this and the next. It was a lovely view, but would have been even better on a good day.

The lady selling tickets for the tower tour had recommended stopping off on the 3rd floor on the way down, there was a book of comments seen here, I just took it as a snapshot really but was pleased with the results.

Looking over the side from the 3rd floor gives a better idea of how big the whole structure is.

The Roman Catholic cathedral looks much more modern, I had a go at a few shots hand held at ISO 3200 with the kit lens and was pretty happy with the results.

Again, ISO 3200 with the kit lens, a portrait shot of the above photo.

I sat down to change lenses and thought I'd try and get this shot, it was taken with the nifty 50 at f/1.8, with the ISO at 3200 and cropped considerably, so not the best quality unfortunately.

The colours certainly add a modern touch, although I prefer the traditional and somewhat gothic feel of the Anglican Cathedral

I spotted this statue off to one side, unfortunately whilst taking this photo I was asked to leave due to the fact that I had been using a tripod and might make money off a photo taken there. I was planning on leaving shortly anyway so didn't really argue.

Sorry for the slightly long thread, but I thought it'd make sense to put them in 1 thread rather than split them up. Thanks for looking, and all C&C is welcomed, I think my processing has improved slightly since the last thread I made, although all criticism about it and how I could improve is appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

Some fantastic pictures there! My favourites are: 2 and 6.

I do feel more effort could have been put into cropping a fair amount of pictures and the PP needs some work. It's coming along nice though! Keep up the great work!

What was your primary lens? 10-20mm?

Thanks, I have already had to do a bit of cropping and rotating on some of these so perhaps I do need to pay more attention to that aspect. I use the canon 10-22mm lens mostly :)

Really not a fan of the borders you've chosen, and most are lacking in a bit of sharpness I'd like but you've got some good photos there. If I'm being too critical the symmetry is off in a few of the photos by a little bit and the outdoor photos lack contrast but aside from that they're an alright set of photos.

I agree, the borders are rather hit and miss on most photo's.

iBot, why do you always insist on being a pillock and spamming/thrashing threads?

Regarding the borders, it's just been a part of my resize and save for web function that I've never considered, would a solid white border work better do you guys think? Also, a similar size to what the borders currently are or bigger/smaller?

With the symmetry - I'll be sure I pay more attention to next time I am out. I've got a few other photos that Ive not posted due to them looking wrong because they aren't symmetrical, because the seats aren't quite positioned to be fully symmetrical with the building.
Regarding sharpness, which ones from the first post do you think are lacking the most? I was actualy quite pleased with some of the photos when zoomed in to 100% - particularly the ones from the roof, but I didn't sharpen the images after resizing so that could be why perhaps. With the contrast, I agree, the weather was pretty poor, and it started raining when I was on the roof, but I think I really need to go back on a nicer day.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated :)

i use the firefox 56k plugin for webmasters and i its fine on 56k. it all loads in less than 1 minute
Well I had a quick look on google and can't see a plugin anyway, and there's about 2.7MB of images, which on a 56k modem would take around 6 and a half minutes, that's ignoring any overheads and the web page itself and any other images, and purely for data, so in reality would be 7-8 minutes. So either your plug in is seriously inaccurate or you are just making stuff up. I thought it might be courteous to warn users it may take a few moment before they entered the thread.

Sure thing:

I've also tried it with a solid white border:

I think the solid white works best really, although to be honest I've never put much thought in to it but I think it is an improvement over my current ones.

Here's how I'd personally PP the picture, along with my border of choice :)

Edit: Looking again, these definitely have potential, need to spend more time playing around with processing the pictures :)
