Hey,

I've just brought a brand new Abit AB9 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard with GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC).

When i came to install Windows, it would only work with 1gb in. If i put the 2 Ram cards in slot 1 & 3 or 2 & 4 (for dual channel) the computer wont even load windows in safe mode. If i put the cards in slot 1 & 2 then it will work, but i'm told this will only be in single channel. Either card works perfectly well in slot 1.

I want to get this to work in Dual channel mode, as this is what it was brought for. Can anyone help?

Thanks

Joe

what cpu have you got? sounds like the memory controller on your cpu is gone, i had this same problem with a old opteron 148!
Intels do not integrate a memory controller onto the CPU die. On an Intel rig the memory controller is in the chipset on the motherboard.

Send it back and ask for a bundle of parts that work. The whole point of those bundles is that they definitely work together, so something is damaged somewhere.

Because it was bought as a 'lot' you will need to return it as a 'lot'. But I would definitely return it.
