I have a budget of about £230 to spend on a graphics card or cards. I have a crossfire motherboard and I am looking at either 2 x850XT's (A master and a standard card) or an X1900XT (on special offer this week).

I'm pretty sure the X1900XT will be quicker, but I just want to check. I'm hoping to play games at 1600x1200 with most of the bells and whistles turned on.

Yes x1900 is quicker, x8 series crossfire is wasted as its stuck at 1600x1200, and 60hz, even though your going to play at that res now, you may want to upgrade your monitor so you can play higher resolutions, which would make the 2x x850's redundant being stuck at what they are. :)

An X1900XT will be much quicker.
Also you don't need to worry about combatibility problems Crossfire might bring along, plus with being a single card it will take up less space, so you can still use PCI cards, and you can also upgrade again with a second X1900XT.
And on top of all that tracking down X800XT master cards isn't very easy (or atleast it wasn't last time I looked)

@LoadsaMoney, pretty sure it was 85Hz

btw - did you get my email I sent the other day?
