2 x 8800 GTX SLI will last how long as a ruff guess for games at 1920x1200 on max ?

If the game supports SLI then a very long time. If it doesnt support SLI then it will be shorter.

Will last a year or so, allthough even at that res a game like Oblivion could bring it down to the low 30's.

One GTX is fine for the time being really depending what games you play. :)

Get the second when they go cheaper if you want for when you get the games that use SLI.

I didnt no a game needed to be coded for SLI. would you think 90% off all the latest top games would support SLI ??

So looks like Quad CPU`s and SLI go hand in hand and need to be supported to get the full benifit.

Must be such a nightmare for game makers to make games this way. No wonder we dont see as many games out these days

Quad CPU's will eventually become just natural support, same as Dual Core is now. SLI however probably won't, since it's not a stepping stone up in performance (whereby dual to quad is) and SLI is more a bonus thing to a system.

It's not a 7950GT ... it's 2 of those in SLI and 1gig of DDR3 ... :) I know that it matches the 8800GTS in terms of performance more or less. I was hoping that it would though.

I also got a Quad core running at 3.4Ghz. I mainly play Supreme Commander, Bioshock ... and I will play Quake Wars and Crysis when they come out.

Put it this way...

If it plays Bioshock at the moment, the chances are it will probably be fine for years to come, simply because games will require DX10 to really look pretty and the card is not DX10 capable. This means it will take none of the performance hit that the 8800/2900 series of cards will in such games.

If you want DX10 spangly bits, then you need a newer card.
