2 x new 4TB Ironwolf NAS drives both dead from Overclockers??

Hi all,

Just received two new 4TB Ironwolf NAS drives from Overclockers and stuck them into my Synology NAS and they both failed to initialise.

Have tried putting into an external USB docking station to my main PC and again it's failing to initialise with a 'fatal device hardware error'.

What's making me suspicious is that BOTH drives are working - is this normal/likely.

I also downloaded Seatools - it fails to work.

I'm just wondering if it's something I'm doing daft here....!?

Any ideas on how I can diagnose this before I send both back to OCUK?

Quite normal to have a batch of failures. Speak to OCUK, they may have had other recent returns of the same product.
Try mounting directly inside a PC if you can. Then you've tried 3 different mounting techniques, no reason OCUK could refuse a replacement/refund.

Ah ok - thought it was more unusual - have dropped them a note and hopefully they'll respond quickly...!

I'd try internal before you write off.

Docking stations can be finicky things if they're USB.
