2 xbox's 1 gamer profile???

Hello folks and Happy new year.

Today i decided to cough up for an Elite as my old 360 has got to the point i think its going to take off its that loud, now i'm a little confused to what to do with my Gamer Profile, i realise i could retrieve it on the Elite which in turn invalidates it on the old console which is now in my bedroom, if this is the case what happens to the downloaded content on the old console, i have GTA the lost and the damned on the old console and would like to still be able to play it on that but if my profile is invalidated on it can i stil get to play it?

Any help on this one?

I admit I dont use my xbox much but wouldn't the gamertag just be live on both, but of course can be used/logged in by only one at a time.

If you recover your gamertag on a new console, it will invalidate the old one. You'd have to do this recovery each time unless you moved the HDD or stored your profile on a memory card.

As for the games, they will be licenced to your old console so any gamertag can play them and they will also play on your new console when you are logged into Xbox Live unless you transfer the licenses.

Indeed, if you want to play on both consoles often then you're best of putting down the wonga for a memory card as there will be no recovering as long as it's stored on the mem card.

it really is a pain in the ass having to go out and buy a memory card just to move my Gamer profile back and forward but i suppose its better that having to create another account which in turn would mean another subscription to live?

Yes you would need another subscription, I'd like to be able move my gamertag at will I think it's better this way, discourages many people using the same gamertag in different places.
