Howdy fellas

I'm about to upgrade my monitor to replace a Samsung 171p TFT. I've got a couple in mind:

20" Models

22" Models

I'm really stuck on whether to go for a 22" model or not. They look massive to me. I can't help thinking that my neck muscles are going to get one hell of a work out every time I siwtch on the PC. How do people find them? The money difference doesn't bother me but I don't want to regret my choice either way.

Secondly, I know the monitors listed are popular and get good reviews so I won't ask "which is the best monitor" since there are already dozens of that type of thread. But given my requirements (games, web browsing & general application work) what factors other than brightness, contrast ratio and response time should I be considering (or even other panels) ?

Any replies appreciated.

Edit: After thought; will my gfx card (see sig) be able to cope comfortably with 20/22?

hi there,

i bought a 22" sammy 6 months ago and have been nothing but happy with it. it did seem quite daunting at first, particularly browsing etc but playing games just looks so good!
i would say 22" all the way! your gfx may struggle a little now. i had to upgrade from 256 to 512 video memory to make the most of it

i would choose the Samsung SM-226BW 22", however i have a 20" pebble but that was due to the lack of money i had at the time plus i don't play many games so the size 20" is big enough for what i need.

so i would suggest 22":)

personally i'd have a 20" on the basis of higher dpi but that is personal preference. 22" are big but you would quickly get used to it and after while you will be thinking about getting that 24" because its too small :p

I'd always take the 22". I'd find 22" @ 1680x1050 far more comfortable on the eyes than 20" @ 1680x1050. Also, 20" is starting to get a bit on the small side these days imo.

22" all the way! Unless your playing crysis a lot you should be ok with your current graphics, for now anyway.

Samsung do some great 22"'ers atm.
