£200 for a replacement for my old 8800 GTX

I think you can still get the XFX Hd5850 for £200 which is the same price today as it was last year which is remarkable for this sort of hardware, that's a bit over priced IMO, £190 for me is the fair price for the HD5850 but there EOL now so supply is limited. Personally I would wait and see what AMD brings to the table with regards to the 6000 series on the 18th of October.

I would assume at this point that any recommendations should be done on stock performance, as overclcocking is very case by case dependant.

3 options available to the op.

5850 for under 200.
470 for little over 200 (probably best option at this time)
or wait for the ATI 6000 series, but I think the first chip to come to the market will be the 6870 and they wont be in much abundance and probably expensive.

My 5850 will run anything I throw at it, it also runs cool overclocked, idles around 40'c, peaks at 69-70'c running 15% overclocked.

Supporting CPU is a Phenom II x3 @ 3.7GHz.

Might be worth waiting a couple of weeks? One can assume the price of the HD5850 will drop when the 6xxx come out. Would like some opinions on this from the guys who have seen new cards released over the years, as I am only just taking note of the market today.

After a delayed order from another site (wish I hadn't bothered..) I'm back to choosing which 470 to go for.
I'm looking at either the KFA2 GTX 470 EX OC for about 210 or the Gainward 'Good Edition' for much the same. I realise the KFA2 is factory clocked but anything else I should look for? if it was your choice, what would you order? Cheers

You might as well wait until Friday and see how the Radeon 6850/6870 turns out to be like.

For the record KFA are the 'premium' brand of Galaxy who are a long established AIB for Nvidia so don't worry to much about the name in case you were wondering.
