Just a quick question for the Mac faithful. My brother has the aforementioned iMac. I was wondering how well these cope with something like Left 4 Dead 2 running natively?
Is it a slideshow affair as I suspect or is it more than playable?

Suspected iMac spec
CPU: 2.0/2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Video: Some form of ATI 2600.

I guess getting him to try out the Half - Life 2 demo would be a decent performance barometer without having to buy anything from Steam up front?

Just to update folks, I gave this a razz.

Half-Life 2 runs on the 2007 iMac but it's not really playable. Frame rates are pretty awful even for a game this old with such terrible texture and poly counts. The sound is also broken.
You could soldier on with it if you were super desperate but it's akin to gaming on a netbook.

It's a bit disappointing. I was looking forward to some network games with him but it ain't happening under OSX with this machine.

Probably the ATI that's the week link.. you could look around for a replacement if you feel brave enough to open it up.

Definitely the graphics card letting it down...as far as I can remember isn't the 2600 on par with like the 9800 pro back in the day? :o

My iMac (21.5" with 9400m) and my Macbook (again 9400m) doesn't do to bad on source games but I still just turn to my PC and play games on that. :)
