Only three to go and it's time for F1's traditional jaunt to the Far East so we're back to offensive start times. Fuji hasn't held a GP since 1977 and has changed pretty drastically since then, it's fair to say that the track isn't a patch on Suzuka but let's wait and see what it's like in reality before making a judgement.

Friday practice : 0200 - 0330 & 0600 - 0730
Saturday practice : 0300 - 0400
Saturday Qualifying : 0600 - 0700 ITV3 from 0530 - Note the channel change (ITV4 is evenings only). Re-run 1000 ITV.
Sunday Race : 0530 - 0730, ITV from 0430. Re-run, 1130-1330 ITV. Highlights, Monday 0010 (ITV) & 1800 (ITV4)

Currently the scores on the doors are:

For some reason the FIA is showing McLaren as ahead of Spyker but still on zero, strange....

If you're interested in seeing what the tracks look like I've updated my Google Earth links and flyovers. Monza is now in high-res following the last data update (must remember to remove the overlay from the .kmz), I think Shanghai is now a more up to date building site but Fuji is still low res. To play the flyovers select the flyover folder and press the play button at the bottom of the Places pane.

I'm going for a lewis DNF and an Alonso win ;)

I would have preffered Suzuka and I'm sure Ferrari would have too. I think this may suit the mclaren much more. Would be nice to see a head to head battle between Lewis and Alonso. I doubt either of them will listen to holding station after the last stops anymore :D

If you take a look on Autosport there is the latest couple of installments in the deranged ramblings of Max Mosely. First on cost cutting, his view is that the teams shouldn't be spending money having 11 sets of guys working on the same thing (one per team). Now remind me a minute, isn't this the same guy who spanked McLaren for not doing this???

His second one is suggesting that the government should support the British GP on the basis that they're supporting the Olympics. I don't quite see how the two are comparable - a one off event where the money spent creates an infrastructure that can be used afterwards versus an annual event where the money goes straight into Bernie's pockets.

Oh, while we're on the subject of deranged ramblings...

Ralf Schumacher reckons he'll still be in F1 next year...

Asked if he is confident of securing a ride with a championship contender in 2008, he smiled, and said: "Oh yeah, very. It won't be too difficult."

Ralf and Max. Easily the two most deluded men in the pitlane.

There's no doubting the pedigree of the Suzuka track, but it's never been the best for overtaking. Fuji is much wider, and there's at least 3 good overtaking spots by my count (T1, T3, T10).

I'm really looking forward to this race. It's great to see all the teams have to start from scratch with no previous races held on this track, so no reams of data to work from.

Put me down for a fiver on Raikkonen, for the win and the championship :)

nice one wonderlander! Just out of interest, how much are you paying for the trip out, hotel and tickets? I've always fancied going to Japan, and combining it with taking in the Grand Prix would be fantastic :)

It's a present, uncle won a charity auction so not sure. We have weekend passes for the GP, 5 Nights at the Tokyo Hilton and return flights (ANA Airways). Worth quite a bit I suppose!

Worst of all I think is his rant about Jackie....

3 times champion in an era of intense bravery. Jackie should stick one on him. Some of that in the article is just childish.

"There's one particular ex-driver who because he never stops talking, never has the chance to listen, so he doesn't know what's going on," said the Englishman, according to the Daily Mail. "He said the FIA's decision would not have worked in a civil court. He has no qualification to say that. Then he starts saying this is personal between me and Ron Dennis, at great length, because everything he does is at extreme length.

"It's annoying that some of the sponsors listen to him because he's won a few championships," Mosley continued. But nobody else in Formula One does - not the teams, not the drivers. He's a figure of fun among drivers."

Then in a further display of spite, which in the eyes of many might give a certain credence to Stewart's comments, Mosley added: "He goes round dressed up as a 1930s music hall man," clearly referring to the Scot's tartan trews. "He's a certified halfwit."

If anyone else said this about Mosely or they way F1 was run then they would be banned for life:eek:

Darn I'm at a bloody weeding this Sunday :(...
And working sat night, Maybe if we finish early I might catch the end.

You reckon I could sneak a portable tv in :D

Surely the wedding doesn't start at 5.30 in the morning????

There's a full rerun at 11.30 and highlights Monday 1800 on ITV4

Whats that in Australian time?

Should be mid-late afternoon shouldnt it? My state is only about half and hour to an hour behind japan?

working the sat night and then driving to maidenhead for the wedding. If I finish early I might get to watch it at the yard, tv in the office.

Weather forecasts for the weekend look pretty grim for the drivers. Every day except Friday sounds like it's going to honk it down big time. Let's just hope it's not like 76 and a title contender pulls out! :p
