My spec:
ati 4850
4gb ram
6600 at 2.4ghz

I keep thinking I need to upgrade but then I remember most of the games I am looking forward to are being made for consoles first and ported to pc second. If these games can run on consoles, then my pc can probably handle them.

I am currently thinking of buying a 5870, i7 and 6gb ram + a new mb and psu but think that might be overkill if most games run perfectly fine on a 4850.

2010 games I am buying. Which of these games do you think will be the most demanding of my hardware?

Diablo 3
Bioshock 2
Bad Company 2
Aliens vs Predator
Mass Effect 2
Max Payne 3
Splinter Cell Conviction
Dark Void
Batman: Arkham Asylum 2
Medal of Honor Modern Warfare

I can't say which will be most demanding. but Aliens v Predator is the game that got me to finally upgrade from a laptop. I want that game so much!

There's a Max payne 3? Cool.

I really doubt Batman AA 2 will be out next year - it's just been announced.

naumachia looks like it could be good
universe online
black prophecy
jumpgate evolution

really need a good space mmo sim type thing, cant get to grips with eve so im on the look out

I've got a 4850 but I don't think it's up to the job with certain games at 1080 personally. I need AA so UPGRADE! ;) You need to. :D

i dont think well be getting Diablo 3 in 2010, apparantly Blizzard only do 1 major release a year and Starcraft 2 is further along it seems, so its more likely well be seeing that with Diablo in 2011. never know, might get lucky :P

i think ill be upgrading for BC2 if required for full settings

my list:

Bad Company 2
Sup Com 2
Alien vs Predator
Starcraft 2

Doom 4 (or whatever they decide to call it) is one of the next more demading games to run though I'm not sure if it'll be out in 2010 since Rage isn't out yet. I predict Rage is out by the end of May.

Is it a q6600 you have (quad core) or an e6600 (dual core)?
If it's a quad, I would just buy a 5870 and overclock your q6600, I have mine running at 3.6ghz on air. It'll save you buying a whole new motherboard, ram and everything and will be good for a fair few years yet.
If it's a dual core, I would probably just replace it with a quad rather than building a whole new rig.
Not many upcoming games caught my eye to be honest.

Bioshock 2

:D:D:D, I bought this off Steam a year ago as it was going for £3 and then gave it a quick try but didn't like it. Then i started playing it again this week and i cant put it down, its a really good game when you get into the story. I didn't realise there was going to be a sequel \o/, cant wait.

It was all garnish and no dinner I thought. Not much game under the pretty façade, it was very pretty though. I got bored before I finished it. Did they ever get round to patching the weird mouse acceleration bug? I'd consider getting the new one but I'd definitely wait to hear how it controls first.

Just upgrade your gfx card to one which is slightly faster & has more VRam (go for 896Mb minimum) then try & get a 12MB L2 Cache Quadcore CPU & that will last you another 1.5-2 years easily.
