Now there's an idea! :D

Considering watching the womens pole vaulting as well...

Not sure why?!

I'm pleasantly surprised.

A ticket for a Championship football match can easily be ~£30, a gig at a small venue can be £15-25, rising to £50-60+ at larger venues, so for something on the scale of the Olympic games the prices seem quite fair. The prime seats at events like this are always ridiculously expensive anyway, so the £2012 tickets aren't all that surprising.

Think I might head up. Wonder if there is a vistors pass of some sort where you can just wander around between the games, I don't fancy going there to just sit and watch one or two things; would rather explore the venue a bit.

As long as the top end of ticket prices are for only a few seats then I'd be happy.

You can only see the olympics every 4 years, and that's if you can afford to fly round the world to all these destinations. As pointed out, a top level footbal match is going to be over £40 and that happens every weekend for over half the year. So I don't mind paying a premium for it being more of a one off event.

I only registered at the ticket site this morning :o, and the prices do look a little daunting at first, but this would be my 'holiday' and I've wanted to go to an Olympic games for 20 years or more. The athletics is going to sting me for a few bob, but I certainly intend to be there as much as I can, and the weightlifting is another must. Gymnastics and cycling are my other probables.

Can't wait. :D

Not for me, the lower tier prices will doubtless sell out into thin air within hours of going on sale... shortly before finding there way in to the hands resellers, auction sites et'al.

And tbh id imagine anything around london town will be fleece central during the games, shake downs at the venues ect... 5 quid for a bottle of water, 20 quid to park your car you only take to avoid the increased cost of a train journey down.... anyone who's ever been to a big event knows how it works.

Sorry to sound negative, but all those increased costs will be there, it'll be anything but £10.99 or whatever to attend.:(

Good thing there are 8m Londoners then.

The tickets are allocated on a ballot system, so someone trying to get a ticket 1 minute before the deadline will have as much chance as someone who tries 1 minute after they go on sale.

I'm not sure what they're going to do about ticket reselling though.

hmm I suppose the lowest prices look reasonable, but as op says I can't see anywhere what all the different categories mean... I wouldn't have thought there could be 5 different types of seat, but I suppose they must just divide the stadium up into lots of onion rings or something.

I'm definitely up for it IF I can get a reasonable travel and accommodation deal. Attending an Olympic Games in your own country is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I fancy going to the gymnastics and some sort of athletics.

Thats exactly it, I don't understand the attitude of some people on here, its a unique event that you'll rarely have the oppourtunity to so easily attend again.

I really hope to see some swimming and athletics, maybe more if there is money left over.
