lol, was that Torres clearing a perfect ball in from Fabregas, rather than head it into the goal, or leave it as it was going to drop to Drogba on the far post... he headed it higher and behind Drogba. Another great clearance.

Chelsea were pretty awful today, couple of dodgy pens for Bremen but they were better than us anyway.

Arsenal haven't been great from what I've seen of todays game. Alexis had a couple of moments where he slotted a killer ball in behind but with Giroud running onto it the move died out somewhat. Not having a dig at Giroud there, just Alexis needs to understand when the throughball is appropriate and when its not. Not sure deploying him on the right is the correct move, I'd like to see him play up top with Giroud especially against the weaker sides. If we get Alexis playing alongside one other forward thinking player with true pace than I think we could be devastating on the counter.

Chambers has looked solid at centreback, Debuchy has looked like a train wreck all game, but its far too soon to judge.

All in all I think today gives us a much better idea of where we are at for the first few games of the season.

I think we're lucky we dont have any big games coming up, we need the German trio (or at least two of them) back and fully fit. Barring no horrible injuries we should be in really good shape for the end of August.

We weren't that great, but the teams put out are still a bit wonky. I'd prefer the German players to be back for the start of the season as it's clear Verm is going, so our centre backs will be unfamiliar with each other whoever players with Kos and we'll have to rely on not putting pressure on ourselves. Monaco were very organised at the back and didn't offer much at the other end bar Falcao's goal, which was nobody marking him from 2 yards out and entirely preventable. Not really bothered as these pre-season games are never indicative of too much, other than who's fit and who isn't.

Not won the Emirates Cup since 2010, woe is us!

Roughly the two strongest teams there (available on the tour).

Interesting that Rooney is suddenly captain rather than Fletcher, but not a surprise...
