Evening all,

In typical last minute fashion I am working out a route for this years trip away on the bike.

The route thus far contains the following points of interest, largely dictated by the mate I am travelling with but also ones I have researched thrown in.

Depart St. Malo, France

Germany
Nurburging
Black Forest B500
The town of Vank (I can't spell it properly due to swear filter!) (his pick!)
Fussen (Neuschwanstein Castle)
Salzbergstraße, Eagles Nest

Austria
Großglockner Hochalpenstraße (National Park/Toll Road)
Gerlos strasse
Fern strasse

Switzerland
Berggasthaus Aescher-Wildkirchli
Klausenpasse
Susten/Grimsel/Furkapasse

Return to St. Malo, France

Would welcome any ideas for additional POIs/Roads/Passes. If time permits might add in the Great St Bernard Pass (Which Kreeee ribbed me about last year) down into Italy then back through the Mont Blanc Tunnel.

Don't go into Paris. For the southern (return?) leg of the journey, from Beaune head to Autun then Chateau-Chinon, Nevers, Bourges, then Orleans or Tours and Le Mans. If you go to Tours, stop off at Chenonceaux.

Would be return yes. Something like this:

Revised

Depending on how much time is made (or lost) I could even throw the D902 in for part of the Tour Des Alps in France.

I was on the B500 last year and I had it to myself. Literally saw 2 or 3 other cars and one log hauling lorry. I'm not fussed about seeing it again but friend wants to go so we shall!

Technical Museum is a good shout, I'll add it as a POI, it's on the route also.

I plan to do Susten, Grimsel and Furka. Just when putting the loop into the route planning it went totally crazy and couldn't handle it!

I'll check out the others.

We are away Aug 27th to Sep 4th. I imagine we will his the Swiss part towards the mid/mid-end of that time span. Day 6 or 7 perhaps.

I'll use the accommodation tactic I used last year. Wait until around Midday, find WiFi, load up Expedia App and find decent digs on the cheap :D

A little risky in terms of availability, but you are not locked into a set schedule/place.

We are currently in Germany and halfway between Fussen and the Eagles nest. We will be in Austria tomorrow and onwards towards Switzerland. Did some research and have added Zugspitze to the list which looks awesome.

Did a lap of the ring, not ideal doing it for the first time on a bike. It was insane, what a place. Don't get any idea from video/pictures just how much variance in elevation there is and how blind many of the corner approaches are!

Did Susten and Grimsel today, luckily the forecast was wrong and it was bone dry! Furka tomorrow then down towards Great St Bernard.

Susten and Grimsel were absolutely stunning. Technical sections, breathtaking scenery, fast sections.... Highly recommend!
