A friend has recently bought a 106GTI but she bought with her heart and didn't really look at the car proper.

Its got 17" wheels and the previous owner used a spacer on the offside because the wheel was fouling the fuel pipe - the rear quarter panel is actually bowed out a little which I think is from the pipe prior to the lad using this spacer. Its a right bodge as theres only a spacer on one side and the wheel is only held on with 3 bolts which are actually allen headed??

Because of this the rear trailing arm bush has collapsed giving the car a rather wonky wheel. She drove the car from Bristol to West Wales like this and didn't notice any odd behaviour from the car.

So, how hard are these things to change? I suspect both sides might need doing as although the NS side is pretty straight the tyre is worn on the inside edge.

Any ideas as to cost if she takes it the the local Pug specialist?
