What's the pros and cons of moving from 1080ti to 2080s?

I've had my 1080ti for 2 and half years, with 2 and half years warranty left. Second hand value is what, £400 so say £350 in the pocket after postage etc..

New Zotac card is £700 - so net cost is £350.

    Resolution is 3440*1440.

    What say you, wise forum?

None. Overclock the 1080Ti if not having to yet. :)

RTX and that's it really. The 1080Ti runs a little cooler from what I can tell as well so noise levels might be a factor.

At that res you will see very little difference and you would be throwing 350 quid away for like 10fps in some titles.

If it was me I'd still take the 350 but add it to a 30xx series fund and then when the 3080ti is released slam a load of money on that and enjoy a good increase in performance.

For 1080Ti owners the 2080s is a sidewaysgrade. Watch some reviews online and everyone is saying it's a pretty pointless release.

It's what, Up to 15-20% more performance at high res? and you say it will cost you £350 in the end.

Only you can really answer the question as to whether it's worth it.

10% max performance boost at 1440p isn't worth it for what it will cost you IMO

    I’d rather have the 11gb 1080ti over a 8gb RTX card.

    *sigh*

I'll spend some of my geek budget yet... I don't think I've bought anything substantial this year. :(

Waste of money and time....and effort...go play some games...in a blind test if I swapped them out you wouldn’t notice...

Yes, you're right and I suppose it's why I asked in the first place.

I'll stash it and splash it on the next offering in 2020. :)

That imho is the sensible decision if you're looking for any kind of perf/value.

Best off waiting. You’d be looking at very similar levels of performance give or take maybe 5-10% depending on the game and resolution.

As someone has said you wouldn’t notice it without a fps counter.

Just overclock the Ti as far as it will go, enjoy some games and call it a day. They will usually do 2-2.1ghz and most give you another +1000 or more on the memory. That alone will see you at 2080S performance.

Dude, sometimes it’s nice to be reassured by another forum member or members...rather than just reading a review...

Don't waste your money on the RTX coming from the 1080ti.

Go take a cold shower cool yourself off, play some games and wait for Nvidia next round of cards on 7nm.

The 2080ti arguably is the only card that has move forward in terms of performance after 2 years have passed (at a ridiculous cost), while the rest of the cards below hardly improved on performance/£ comparing to last gen 10 series cards from 2016/2017.
