Hi

I have been using my trusty Viewsonic 19inch LCD for a good number of years now. I am happy with it performance which meets my 2 main requirement. Primary Gaming (2ms response a must) and secondary watching movies (not the best from what i read but i am more than happy with it :D )

However I was thinking to upgrade to something a little bigger and probably be widescreen that basically gives me the same or better performance that i got from my 19inch.

Naturally i was going to stick to Viewsonic so VX2260wm caught my eye. However from searching and reading the forums there was mix responses or rather a lack of postive comments for this panel. Most that bothered said it was alright but insinuated there was better.

Samsung SM2253BW seems very popular which certainly meets my 2 main requirement so like the viewsonic is seems it a matter of preference. The viewsonic did have a stand issue which new model now have the improved stand.

So any comments or views would be greatly appreciated. If there another model that is even better that meets my specs that still around the £200 mark then please feel free to add. I read somewhere there other models about to come out too Hazro or something. Should i wait?? :D

Thanks in advance.

Hello Kyo,

Can't really offer any suggestions/recommendations as I also have a normal 19". I just ordered a 20" Samsung 'Pebble' so will post my opinions of it when I get it. I did think about getting a 22" as the height on the widescreen 20" will be smaller then my current 19". But the native res on both 20"+22" is the same (from what I understand). Also, the monitor will be used on my desk which I sit quite close to the screen so I think 20" should be perfect. Good luck with whatever you decide though.

Also, I see you have a similar rig as me and own the DFI-Expert. I still think its a great platform really pleased with my setup, you happy with yours?

Hi Rich

Yes - surprisingly I am still very happy with the performance with my rig. Only real upgrade was my gfx card. Still tempted atm to upgrade my cpu and that would mean a new mobo and memory.

However for what i am using it for and playing the latest game it more than adequate. So holding off atm until their actual a need to.

As for the 22" monitor choice. i was thinking changing for widescreen so was thinking perhaps the 20" was only a little bigger than what i got. So 22" seem to me to be about right. Not ordered my monitor yet as I am still undecided, the Samsung T220 caught my eye (as it got great reviews) and at a great price. However from reading sites and forums there meant to be 120Mhz TFT screens just around the corner. Anyone know where i can get more info on them??

hmm i still don't think the 100+hz tft's will be close and affordable upon release, i'm in the same dilema as yourself, the monitors i'm looking are the

Asus VH226H
LG W2252TQ
Viewsonic VX2260wm

I'm leaning toward the Viewsonic

2ms is a must for me also and because I play cs 1.6 I need it to be able to run 800x600 resolution without borders :)

I have the VX2262WM and its a fantastic monitor. My previous one was a VX922 (pretty much the first 2ms 19" afaik) which was fantastic for gaming. The 2262 performs just as well in games though apparently it's not so good for colour fidelity.

All of that said, I got my 2262WM for free and probably would have chosen a Samsung T220 or the LG model W2252.

It is just me or has the choice of 22" tft's in the last month or so reduced greatly.
I mean samsung used to have about 4 22" monitors and now they have 1.
Unfortunately there isn't a lot of choice and I regret not buying a 226BW when I last thought about it, as it had a great screen, 2ms response, low input lag and was on a height adjustable stand (i found the newer non adjustable samsung's to sit very low).

I have a funny feeling I may just keep my current Viewsonic VP191b until the 120Hz TFT's come out and as has been said above that could be some time away.
