Hey guys,

Female friend of mine is after a car. Something smallish but not too small, so decent hatchback size. Wants to spend around £2k with £2500 being the absolute limit, so nothing above that.

Insurance isn't going to be a big deal, but then again she's not after much in terms of performance!

Any ideas?

Thanks

You'll suggest something sensible and she'll buy something awful thats pink/cute.

Prepare to fail.

Have to agree with the above, I had the yaris T-sport and have had a go in an SR, there superb cars, well equipped, and the SR has that nice little edge over the more basic models.

my wife has a X reg 1.3 SR and its a crackin little car, she loves it. Quite nippy too. Not forgetting cheap insurance.

She obviously doesn't mind the fact that they're unbelievably tinny, the doors are thinner than aluminium foil, no sound insulation, no refinement and that they drive like motorised shopping trolleys.

Fine, if you all want to do is nip down to the local shops, but not really much good for demanding or long distance driving.

The new shaped Yaris is much better though, but these Mk1s.....

have to dissagree with you im affraid. For the money there great. SR's dont sound like motorised shopping trolleys (if you have actually heard one) and they are quite refined for a 1.3 (if you have actually driven one), and you would be supprised how much you can get in them (if you have actually tried to load one).

The new Yaris is one of the worst cars I've had the displeasure of driving. I have one every time the Avensis is in for service and it's horrific.

My suggestion would be the 1.25 Fiesta or a 1.6 Focus.

What like the magenta Ford Ka I saw outside Tesco earlier today with pink+silver alloys, fluffy pink steering wheel cover, fluffy pink furry dice, pink dashboard, pink and white seats, "princess on board" sticker. etc. etc.

There's a simple rule. The attractiveness of the driver is inversely proportional to the amount of pink tat stuck to the car. The driver of this one was no exception to that rule.

You may want to point this rule out if she starts looking at some ghastly pink Corsa or something.
