Right,

Got a budget of £250ish for a gpu, if I sell my 6950 2gb to my mate. Gaming at 2560*1440 so ideally want a load of vram. What would be the fastest gpu to buy?

Been looking at the EVGA 560ti 2gb.

Would this be a significant upgrade or should I just not bother.

Unless you are really not happy with the general performance of your 6950, I'd stay as you are, maybe drop in another for crossfire if your mobo can do it. My preference would be the Nvidia 560ti 2gb, but since you already have a very decent 2gb card, is it really worth the bother? Regardless of brand, once you reach the kind of res you are running, people tend to find they increasingly require more than one gpu, hence the mention of crossfire / and now sli.

A mate needs a new card, hence selling the 6950.

If I'm lending him some money to buy a new card I might as well get the new card and give him mine. Not to mention that I'm not exactly thrilled with the card for a couple of reasons:

a) It wont detect the hazro monitor on boot meaning I HAVE to have a second monitor which is a pain with a 27" monitor and a smallish desk!

b) It's non-reference so I can't watercool it (hence looking at the evga)

c) With the 570's there's not enough vram (I see almost full usage of 2gb in games) unless I get the £350 evga!!!
