2500k 5ghz on compares to 6600k at stock?

My 2500k struggled to hit above 4.2ghz and my 7700k does 5ghz so an 800mhz difference probably helps as well as RAM that's literally twice as fast

When you upgraded to 7700k did you upgrade your Gpu too? I often find people mention night and day differences but forget the other things that coincided with their upgrade. Nice fresh installation of windows etc gives a much greater impression.

I'm not saying it's not faster mind. I went from 2500k at 4.5ghz to 5820k at 4.5ghz and it's definitely faster but for my day to day usage not night and day.

I could run my 6600k at 4.6ghz with only 1.285v stable, but I could not get 4.7ghz even when bumping the vcore up to 1.4volts.

I do wonder if its the chip that cannot be pushed past this point or if its the motherboard that cannot deliver the volts stable enough.
The reason for this is I have the z170 g1 sniper thats not got many VRM's to smooth out the power to the cpu.
Would be interesting if I could slap my chip into a better board to see if it could be pushed further.

I went from 2500k to 6600k both at 4.6ghz and my frame rates are considerably higher. Remember the memory speed makes a huge difference too, people are generally running 1600mhz with 2500ks but 2666+mhz on 6600ks.

There's no contest imo.
