I have just finsihed my first build:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+ (Socket 939) - Retail (ADA4400CDBOX) (CP-127-AM)
Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 754/939/940) (FG-000-AR)
DFI LanParty UT NF4 Ultra-D (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-014-DF)
OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC3200 Dual Channel Platinum Series EL-DDR CAS2 (OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K) (MY-057-OC)
PowerColor ATI Radeon X1900 XT-X 512MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-059-PC)
Hitachi Deskstar T7K250 NCQ 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (0A31636) (HD-002-HI)
Pioneer DVR-111DBK 16 x 16 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter - (Black) OEM (CD-038-PO)
Thermaltake VA3000BNA Tsunami Dream SuperMidi Aluminium Tower - Black (CA-012-TT)
Tagan TG530-U15 530W ATX2.01 Easycon SLi Compliant Modular Silent PSU (CA-008-TG)
Logitech G5 Gaming-Grade Laser Mouse (KB-069-LG)
Icemat - Black 2nd Edition (GS-001-IC)

(laugh at the icemat+laser mouse later)

1. The system won't boot in dual channel.
2. Each 1 gb stick will allow boot in top orange slot.
3. Both sticks give a clean memtest.
4. I have flashed the bios to the lastest version.

Memtest gives one stick as CAS: 2-3-2-5 and the other as CAS:2.5-3-2-5

Is this going to be an issue getting dual channel working?

PS. Thanks to Monstermunch for loads of spec advice and Tappits for the amazing build manual : http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17562386

I had a dodgy set of OCZ where one would do 2-3-2-5 and the other would do 2.5-3-2-5. They wouldn't work in dual channel @ 2-3-2-5.

RMA'd them and the new set's SPDs are 2.5-3-2-5, but work fine in dual channel @ 2-3-2-5.

I bought a set of G.Skill ZX in the meantime, and find them better (see my thread about it).

I would return the OCZ as faulty, which they are, and get a set of G.Skill ZX.

Remember as well that they should only run at CAS 2.5 for AMD cpus, and CAS 2 for Intel. This is in the smallprint on the OCZ website.

I have these sticks and they are, as usual, great.

Sorry, it looks like I am wrong.

When I bought my models I remember checking the tech. spec and that being said.

Sorry for any confusion :(

they run a 2.3.2.5 for me on a athlon 64 system and pentium system

i wonder why people say there not meant to run @ cas2 on a athlon 64
thats just a myth, its all to do with motherboard manufactures supporting the timings with the correct bios information.

RMA them!

This is sometimes a problem with dual channel kits, which are basically paired as they come off the production line. They are obviosly tested but individually so occasionally the kits won't function as pairs.

One of those things...prbably about 1/20 kits suffer from this.

Get another pair of the same, there is nothing wrong with OCZ (one of the best IMO) and i'd avoid the Gskill, which seem to be having a high number of RMA's atm.

weird - I'd recommend the opposite - I RMA'd my OCZ and got another set, but in the meantime, the G.Skill set I ordered beats both.

:D

Thanks guys, I could have spent an age trying to get these sticks working. I have RMA'd them. Luckly I had a 1gb stick of 3200 in another machine so I can still enjoy my blistering rig!
