Hiya,

I have 2x1Gb OCZ platinum PC6400 modules and 2x512 modules of the same spec running in dual channel mode in my P5B Deluxe Wifi board with an e6600.... Windows though is only reporting 2gigs of ram, but cpu-z is saying 3gigs is installed, is this normal or is something going wrong? (Shown in the screenshot)

Yeah I dont get it, I thought 4gb was the problem in windows, I have no idea why this isn't working, CPU-Z is correct though, I DO have 3 gigs in my machine, and it is reporting the correct SPD values that I've set manually in the BIOS, so I'm really confused...

Dont you need to put in an extra boot option for 32bit windows to accept 3Gb ram. Looks like your part way there, as its enabled Phyiscal Address Extension.

Although the performance gains going over 2GB, are reduced due to the fact that not all applications can make use of PAE addressed memory, and the PAE itself is a page based system, swapping memory in and out of a page buffer. Not very efficient really (Although still an order of magnitude faster than a hard drive paging).

Add /3GB to the end of the operating system lines in boot.ini to enable the extra memory.
