I shall buy any car and wait for you to cross the road! I don't need to know how a cars fuel consumption works to be able to drive, get a life you idiot.
You demonstrate an inability to understand the very basics of something really quite simple yet quite important. Saying you don't need to know how fuel consumption works to drive is a bit like saying you don't need to know how a mortgage works to own a house, or how electricity usage works to manage your utilities. Sure, you don't have to, but you'll make bad decisions and be flagging to everyone that you're an ignoramus.
the problem is the 2.0l car while doing 30mpg will do 0-60mph in 8.2 seconds but has 18 inch alloy wheels
however the 1.4l car while still doing 30mpg will do 0.60mph in 8.2 seconds but has 16in wheels
In terms of time they are the same at 60 MPH after 8.2 seconds, in terms of distance it is impossible to tell from the information you have given. They could be the same, the 1.4 could be in a shorter distance or the 2.0 could be in a shorter distance.
It's a pretty weird question but I'm guessing the OP is after some information on why some engines are more efficient than others? Or something along those lines?
I think the tank is holding the same amount but there is less petrol in your petrol so you are needing to put more petrol in to give you the same amount of petrol in your petrol.
