Hey guys, just wondering for any 2L zetec drivers out there what kinda MPG theyve managed to get their car down to? I do drive with my foot to the floor most of the time, but I'm still not 100% sure my mpg is quite right :) gonna take it easy next few days and give it another calculation.

So, what have you managed? (my car is a 2L mk2 Mondeo, silvertop engine)

Tom.

Calculated over around 1000miles of town driving I get 27-28.

Mixed driving returns greater values. A long motorway run returns over 40 :)

surely that's with normal driving, rather than spirited driving?

We're going back a few years  now but I think the least I ever got to a tank on my 2.0l Mondeo was just over 300 miles. I could usually do Eastbourne to Docklands and back twice (360 miles at 90-100mph) plus a fair bit of town driving without filling up. Compared to some of the cars I've had since, it was very economical.

2L 16V mondeo, 1996.
and if I take it easy I can get 500miles to a full tank, which is around 55quid.

94.9pence a litre.

roughly a 60litre tank I suppose.
so 500miles to 60 litres, how many litres in a gallon? we working UK or US?

uk = 4.55 litres to a gallon.
so 13 gallons is a tank.

500/13 = 38mpg! :)

on a good week of course.
i average 400-500 miles on a weekly basis though, 50quid I fill up everytime (ish)
not bad.

On my mondeo the lowest ive got so far is 31mpg, would be higher if I turned off the air con. Thats with a lot of 'A' road driving.

My dad's friend's Zetec-engined mkII Scrote gets about 8mpg when caning it...

...It breathes through a pair of massive twin-choke Weber 48s and isn't stock...

I average 300 miles a tank in the 1.8. That's roughly 22mpg. If I drive a bit poofy I can coax another 50 miles from a tank...

It's more than 22mpg if you've got the same size tank as me - I get 270-300 miles and it works out at about 24mpg.

Driving around town = win.
