So, a friend has seen my recent '2nd hand parts' build and has instantly gotten the upgrade bug and has given me £300 to build him a better PC than he's currently using (Phenom II 1055T/Asus M4A Evo Something Something Mobo/4gb OCZ 667 Ram/R7 200 Series GPU/Generic PSU/Big White NZXT Case). Now, I've already purchased a matx mobo, an i5 3570K, Cosair 550 psu (bundle from auction) and a b grade midi tower from OcUk today, so spent £140 so far, £160 to go, and have to buy a GPU, SSD and some ram. My headache is the GPU. I've been looking in the members market and have seen a few that would be adequate, Twin Frozer 7950, Ice Q 7970 and a 760 gtx (the chap is selling ram as well, 2 birds, onestone etc), all for around the £60-70 mark. If it was your money, which would you choose?

760 is no where near as good as the 7970.
But you need cash for the ram and ssd. I would see just how cheap a 7950 I could get. Overclocked a bit, it can still manage 1080p.

The annoying thing is, I sold my Vapor-X 7950 a few weeks ago when I bought an 8gb RX480 Nitro from the shop here. I figure I need about £70ish for a SSD and 8gb ram, so £90 to spend on a gpu and both the 7950 and 7970 I've seen are only about £60. It's not my money so this is proving to be quite difficult

You can probably buy a 120gb SSD and 8gb of memory for under £60 then just put the rest to something like a GTX 780?

They seem to be going for around £90 cutrently..

might want to offer the option to your friend and explain the difference in GPU quality. Maybe he can provide the extra cash so you can get a better GPU.
